@BabyLove: yup, that's the key. I used to need 10 hours of uninterrupted sleep, now I am lucky if I get 6 and my son is 13 months old, lol.

@looch- you're right, eventually things will fall into place. Until then, I'm just going to have to figure out how to be fully functional sans sleep :)

My son breaks about every sleeping myth there is...put him to sleep earlier so he wakes up later...what? Not this kid.

I don't have any advice for you, just that not every kid is a perfect sleeper. Eventually they'll settle into a pattern, it just takes some kids longer than others.

@owlmom- that's how it happened to us. One night she was a great sleeper, then next and thereafter she was a horrible sleeper!

@sunshine44- Our LO is the same way. That's the most perplexing thing of it all. She doesn't seem to be missing out ont he sleep. She's still a delight during the day. I'm grateful for it, I just don't get it. I know that I'm not the life of the party when I'm sleepy, not really sure how she does it! haha

You're definitely not alone! My LO went from being a good sleeper to being a bad sleeper this week. It's like someone flipped a switch and suddenly she doesn't want to sleep at all. I think there's sleep training in our future too.

@BabyLove: its true, I tried a few different things before I resorted to letting her cry. But it's ridiculous because we both know she's tired, she's not hungry or wet, so I feel like she should want to sleep! But for her she'd rather play and have my attention. Trust me you're definitely not alone, and I hope as she gets older she'll just get better naturally!

@sunshine44- Thank you! Not that I like hearing that other mothers are struggle too, it's just nice to know I'm not the ONLY one. I feel that way sometimes. I will get to the point (or hopefully not but I'm being realistic) where there is no other method to try. I mean, she has to sleep. It's for her own wellbeing!

@BabyLove: I'm in the same boat as you. My LO doesn't sleep well either. The only way she will nap is if I'm in bed with her or holding her. At night she was waking up 5-6 times a night! Rubies convinced me to sleep train, and although its not perfect she's now sleeping at least 5 hour stretches. She's almost 6 months and I will soon make the leap to nap training as well. Its realllly hard to hear them cry, but I realized that lack of sleep for them is much worse than the crying. Just keep at it, do what you are most comfortable with, and remember they all grow out of it at some point!

She just turned 5 months. I am considering sleep training/crying it out. I just can't stand hearing her cry. I know we all feel that way. My husband is even worse though, he refuses to "let her suffer". I also hate feeling like she might actually be hungry or uncomfortable.

When she wakes up, often times I'll wait awhile, let her fuss. Then if it continues I'll go rub her belly but not pick her up. Every once in awhile she'll fall back to sleep on her own but typically she just cries louder (she's a good communicator :o| )

When your LO takes one of her 30-minute naps, do you go to her when she wakes up?

When my LO was 3.5 months old (she's almost 6months now) we night AND nap trained her but it involved crying-it-out. Did you sleep-train? Would you consider it?

I have been obsessed with the issue of sleep for awhile now, about 2 months. I have posted on it before, forgive me. But I'm starting to get frustrated, and I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong.

My LO does not sleep well. She just doesn't. I fantasize about a day when she actually takes naps. As it stands, she'll sometimes take a 1-1.5 hr nap. But more often she'll take 2-3 30 minute naps. I am wondering if there will ever be a day when she doesn't wake up 2-3 times a night!

She used to be a good sleeper. I just can't figure out what happened. We have always been consistent about her nighttime routine. we did make her bedtime earlier, assuming she was overly tired but that didn't do much for the cause. People have speculated that it's teething. But it's been over 2 months and no teeth have cut yet. She had a cold that came and went so that wasn't the issue. I thought perhaps it was hunger, so I gave her a bottle of breastmilk (5ozs) then nursed her. Nope, that didn't work. I'm losin' it here folks.

What should I do? What would you do if it were you?
