I echo what @kiddosc: said - I’ve gotten terrible headaches this pregnancy (and my last pregnancy) and staying super hydrated is the only thing that works for me. Caffeine actually tends to make mine worst since it dehydrates you. I drink an absolute crap ton of water every day and that keeps them at bay.

@Ajsmommy: not sure, it might be low. Or maybe it's "normal," but high for me. I normally have really low blood pressure - the first time I saw my PCP, the nurse freaked out when she took the reading, because she figured I'm about to faint. I had to reassure her that this is just my baseline.

@kiddosc: I'll drink a gallon if it makes this stop! :crying:

I agree with @turquoisemama: I got terrible headaches in early pregnancy and in addition to a little caffeine needed to drink more than a gallon of water a day to keep them away.

Do you have normal blood pressure? A sign of high bp is headache/spots in vision.

@Mama Bird: It was definitely becasue I was later in pregnancy, and they needed to check/monitor BP. It can be a side effect of pre-eclampsia. But it also had been going on for about 12 hours when they said to come in, so they could help it go away

@QBbride: I don't know how you coped! I asked HR on Tuesday how much sick time I have banked, but I really can't afford to take much because the kids get sick too, and I need to look more professional than ever!

@MamaBear87 @threeplusme: thanks! Soda could definitely help... thankfully we've had some office pizza parties, and I socked away a couple cans  :

@Silva: wow. How did they decide you need to go to the hospital? I'm really hoping to avoid that....

@turquoisemama: thanks! I've been drinking lots, but still feel thirsty so maybe it's not enough.

@Mama Bird: I definitely got bad headaches throughout the first and second trimesters and seemed to come from not drinking enough water. My midwife said it was likely a vascular thing since you have a lot more blood when you’re pregnant. But they never lasted more than a half day or so. Definitely see your doctor if it’s lasting that long.

I got migraines for a week straight in early pregnancy with my daughter. Caffeine and tylenol (take them together for the most oomph), and rest in a dark room (which is pretty difficult with kids around, but I wouldn't think twice about screen time in this situation!).
Apparently sometimes pregnancy can make chronic migraines go away, and make them start up in someone who has never had them (like me!).
I'd definitely talk to your doctor, but in all three of my pregnancies I've gotten migraines, and I NEVER get them when I'm not pregnant.
With my second pregnancy I was in my early third trimester when I got a terrible one, they had me go into the hospital to get checked. They gave me fluids and a prescription med and had me stay there until it went away- 24 hours after it started. It was the worst.

My accupunurist recommended putting my feet in hot water. So when i feel a headache coming on ill take an over the counter pain relieve, grab a coca cola (the caffeine helps and settles my stomach too) and fill a big pot with water as hot as i can stand. I'll dip my feet in and out since its super hot. I'm not pregnant but i did get a few headaches in the 1st trimester which were probably hormonal. Good news is i didnt have any the rest of my pregnancy or the whole time i breast fed.

@Foodnerd81: interesting! My dad knows acupressure and offered to try a massage... I freaked out and said no because he doesn't know and I've no clue if it's safe. Maybe it's OK after all, I think it uses similar pressure points...

@MamaBear87: sort of. DS was really sick last week and I was home with him Thursday and Friday, so I skipped my morning office coffee. Funny thing is, I drink really weak coffee in the office and none at all on the weekends or on vacation. It does seem to go away after a cup of coffee, so maybe that's it. Today I'm home (snow day) and by the time it got bad, I felt too ill to fix myself coffee. Ugh. Looks like I'll have to up my coffee intake instead of getting rid of it.

@jennlin821: definitely going to call my doctor ASAP! I'm better as long as I'm lying down, so maybe it's a blood pressure thing.

I had severe headaches throughout my second pregnancy. Nothing really helped, I think it was the hormones. I took tylenol, caffeine, put ice packs on my head etc. BUT if it’s bad enough that you think you’re going to pass out, I agree it’s a good idea to get looked at! Take care!

I wonder if magnesium oil or a bath in epsom salts would help? I tend to have headaches when my magnesium runs low - which it did during early pregnancy - and either of these (the oil is basically liquid epsom salts) helped me a lot...

Headaches suck, and all the more when you can't take much - I really hope you feel better soon.

If it has been four days, please call your doctor!
If it is so bad you might pass out, the head to the ER or emergent care. (Have someone drive you)

It could be 'normal' but that doesn't sound good to me -
I don't really want to guess, but high blood pressure perhaps?

I remember having truly awful headaches early in my first pregnancy. Tylenol barely touched it. What did help me was acupuncture- I had previously had a lot of headaches and was just starting to go to acupuncture when I got pregnant. I think it helped and the results lasted a long time.

I'm maybe 4-5 weeks and have been having terrible headache for the past four days. It started out feeling like a sinus headache, but now it's in the back of my head. It's so bad I'm scared I'll fall over or pass out from the pain. Seems to be worse when I stand up. I'm fine otherwise, just this horrendous pain.

I'm home alone with two kids, so I've taken a Tylenol in case it helps. Thankfully they're letting me lie down and my parents can come over in half hour.

But. Is this normal??? Is it going to keep up? I've never had this before.
