As a sewer - I have a lot of bobby pins around the house. I just bobby pin the back or side of his pants for the day and take it off when I wish them.

Also I buy Children's place adjustable waist pants now for when he goes out. :) Why is he such a skinny mini!?

So, my mom did this to my son's pants. The first attempt she tried just sewing the elastic right over the waistband, my son didn't like the way it felt, so she literally cut the inside waistband open and sewed the elastic over the interior elastic, then closed up the two holes she cut.

@Smurfette: yeah I was thinking about that too but not sure if it would bother DS - he is very sensitive when it comes to clothes (all cotton, no tags, etc)

Could you sew elastic on the inside and a button to tighten them?

if you have some elastic on hand, you could fold over the waist band and sew a new one. or even if you didn't have elastic, you could use a ribbon or something so that you could use it like a drawstring?

@Shutterbug: :silly:

The elastic is sewn over and over like this picture

Haha definitely thought you mean sewers like pipes :silly:

Maybe you could thread a drawstring through the waistband?

So today is only a high of 61 so I pulled out the pants for DS and they don't fit -ugh!!!

He is 6 but has a no waist at all - the 5's fell right off. 4's are too short!

Is there a way for me to make the 5's smaller in the waist? I bought them last year assuming they would fit him this year. can I gather the back somehow? They are all elastic waist pants.

If I HAD to I guess I could sew them up the seams to make them skinnier but I would prefer to temporarily fix them instead.
