along with this question, did your chucky return to normal? I'M 5 weeks post-partum and my tear is healing but feels all weird and bulky.

I would wait until the doc give you an okay. even if you feel like you are okay, internally you might not be ready. I would wait the 6 weeks.

We waited well past the 6 week point and it hurt like HELL. It tends to hurt for me anyway if we haven't done it in a week or two, but it really hurt a lot the first time post baby. It took a long time before it started being pleasurable again. And it's definitely different-- things I used to like before I don't like anymore. It's like learning to do it all over again! Which is tough, but kinda cool as well since we've been married for over 6 years. :)

@his barista - Mirena seems to be the birth control of choice by a lot of ladies. I haven't heard of it before but DH and I agree that I need to get something since we want to wait a year before trying for our second.

Can anyone using Mirena tell me any side affects or pros/cons of it?

@miss-spunkin: Can you tell him that?! Lol. He gives me a hard time sometimes if I just dont feel like it. Overall he's really good but I felt bad since he hadn't gotten any sort of action since I was 37 weeks. Haha.

@sulli301: thanks! Idk if I got regular stitches or not. I am assuming they dissolved since @ my 2 wk check he didn't look down there at all?

@ElisaT: I am going for the mirena this time so I am not too worried yet. Haha. Hopefully it won't affect my bf though.

We tried just before my 6 week appt (oops!) and it was sore but not as bad as I thought. I was super nervous and DH took it slow. I was worried about being too dry since that's what other mommas and my midwife warned me about, but it wasn't a problem for me (thank goodness). We are, however, super worried about getting preggo too soon again! Anyone else freaked out by this?

@His Barista:
We had sex at just before 6 weeks (whoops....) & it was pretty ouch-y. It basically felt to me like we hadn't had sex in a LONG time & just kinda sore around the whole area. I did have dissolving stitches & quite a bit of bruising when she was born. This may also be TMI but I had to ask DH to stop the first time we tried & then later that same day we tried again successfully but with a LOT of lube & a slow go.
Good luck :)

I've been nervous about this for awhile. I am 5 weeks pp and still sore from birth, so I can't even imagine doing it right now. I think we will end up having to wait longer than 6 weeks.

At my 3.5 week appt, my midwife asked if I was wanting to do it yet, she said that we shouldn't try anything until all my soreness is gone. And I am still sore so I am ok with waiting. I do feel bad for DH but having LO to focus all our time on has made it easier..

On a sidenote, I can't believe you've actually been doing oral! Go you, I bet your DH is happy ;) my poor man hasn't had any action in about 6-7 weeks.

@BabyBoecksMom: I am breastfeeding, and sex didn't feel normal again until after I had my first period at 10.5 months postpartum. At one point I never thought I could have normal sex again without a lot of pain. I am soooo glad that my hormones are back and the pain has disappeared.

My doctor just said "nothing in the vagina for 6 weeks". If you use a vibrator on the clit, you should be fine. I had to use a lot of lube and it still kind of hurt but that's because I had a small tear inside my vagina. But it was well worth it just to be able to have sex again.

ETA: My doctor said that women who are breastfeeding tend to heal slower than women who are not, so that may play a role in how soon you'll be cleared for sex.

No one gave me any limitations on anything. The only info we got on sex pp was to "be careful if you're feeling romantic when you get home because you're very fertile post-partum".
We had sex (well sort of... DS woke up and interrupted!) a few days ago at 3.5 weeks pp. It was a little sore, but also felt REALLY good :) We didn't use any toys or even lube and it was fine, but just go with whatever feels right/good to y'all!

So I am only 3 weeks post parting but I have started thinking more about sex. We are still waiting for the all clear from my doc but I have a few questions some of you might be able to answer.

Did it feel any different? I am not so worried about it hurting but I am worries it will feel weird.

Did any of you use a vibrator beforehand? Dh (sorry for some tmi) has been okay with oral for him but we haven't tried anything on me since we have not been cleared. We aren't sure if a vibrator would be okay.

What were your experiences like the first time post baby?
