It never fails me and always turns out way moister than anything I've made from scratch.</p> <p>For my nephew's birthday cake a couple of weeks ago, I made devil's food cake and topped it with the Wilton chocolate buttercream recipe. If you do the chocolate icing, use the melted chocolate instead of cocoa powder. That and my Maida Heatter's cake cookbook are basically like dessert bibles at our house. I made a strawberry buttercream icing by adding fresh pureed strawberries to my basic buttercream recipe.
