WOW. I don't have my most recent receipt, but for our family (DH, myself, DD3 and DD1) I try my best to stick to $170/week. And that is no diapers or anything. Just food. Holy moly. I am blaming Canada being more expensive.

Napa cabbage @ 69c/lb, 2 lbs

@Mrs. High Heels: How much are Asian pears at your local Asian market? I love them but they're two dollars EACH at our normal grocery store, whereas regular pears are $1.70/lb. I need to hit up one of our Asian markets again soon :)

This is so helpful. We used to be great about budgeting and keeping our weekly grocery costs at $100 or less, but after LO, I've gotten so busy that it's fallen to the wayside (although it should be more important now!).

We spent about $80 this week on groceries - not bad for us! We almost always get our produce at the Asian market because it's SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper there than other supermarkets. I think it's because they don't have unions.

Produce:
- Grapes (bag) - $6
- Celery -
- Red onions (2)
- Apples (5)
- Mandarins (box) - $5
- Bell pepper (1)
- Carrots (bag)
- Red potatoes
- Russet potatoes
- Cabbage (1)
- Asian pears (5)
- Oranges (6)
- Limes (6)
- Jalapenos (3)

Meat:
- Thick-sliced bacon (2 packs) - $8
- Ground pork (5 lbs) - $5
- Bone-in NY steak (3) - $9

Other:
- Sliced almonds - $3
- Lite Mayo - $3
- Creamed Corn (2) - $2
- Whole Corn (2) - $2
- Tomato Sauce (2) - $2
- Soda (3-12 packs) - $9

We buy stuff like milk, bread, chicken, and eggs in bulk at Costco, which isn't included here... but those things would probably get us to about the $100 price-point this week for groceries.

I spend between $90 and $120/week. The following includes our groceries for three dinners (we already have the ingredients for one, and will probably get take-out on Friday), as well as all our breakfasts, lunches and snacks for the week. We buy as much organic, naturally-raised food as we can find.

Here's what's on this week's list:

-3 hot Italian sausage
-1 pork tenderloin
-1 strip loin steak
-4 strips side bacon
-2 chicken breasts
-1 bag pasta
-2 zucchinis
-2 red bell peppers
-mushrooms
-salad greens (1 bag romaine, 1 bag organic mixed greens)
-1 bag baby spinach
-1 container cashews

This week is a little different for us- we are going out to eat on Friday (early Valentine's date), and we still have some leftovers from our Super Bowl party. We also had to buy maple syrup (we're Vermonters, its a necessity) which added 20 bucks to the trip. The total was 107.00 (this is a fairly standard price, just the things we bought this week were a little different). I should add that I do all our shopping at the local co-op, and buy almost all organic (and local when available). I think if I did our shopping at a regular supermarket I could bring the cost down a bit, but I like supporting the co-op.

Here is our menu, and then the groceries I bought:

Breakfasts: English muffins w/ peanut butter or oatmeal, orange juice, coffee
lunches: leftovers
snack (for me, pregnant and hungry): Greek yogurt
Monday dinner: leftover artichoke & spinach dip w/ pasta
Tuesday dinner: Green curry with chicken, peas, broccoli
Wednesday dinner: sweet potato soup & goat cheese biscuits
Thursday dinner: black bean, feta, and cole slaw tacos

List:
canola oil - 3.00
small laundry detergent (we needed something a little stronger than our usual Seventh Gen.) - 2.00
1/2 gallon milk (local) - 2.00
quart buttermilk - 2.00
maple syrup (local) - 20.00
orange juice - 4.00
can coconut milk - 3.00
4 6-oz Greek yogurts (local) @ 1.00 ea.
bag frozen peas - 2.00
package 8-in whole wheat tortillas - 3.00
4 navel red oranges - 2.00
1 red pepper - 3.00
1 purple cabbage - 5.00
1 bunch scallions - 1.00
1 bunch broccoli - 5.00
3 sweet potatoes - 5.00
1 red onion - 2.00
bunch bananas - 3.00
1 bunch basil - 2.00
1 pkg chicken breast (local) 14.00
1 pkg whole wheat English muffins (local) - 3.00
4-oz goat cheese (local) - 4.00
1 lb whole wheat penne (bulk) - 3.00
1/2 lb coffee (bulk) - 6.00

edited to add- I included prices with some generous rounding

@BabyBoecksMom: Yea, I didn't get any bread or lunch meat this trip, so I guess we are eating left overs this week. That alone adds a bit to the weekly budget.

Do you try to shop the B1G1 stock up sales? I try to buy all my rice/couscous/cereal during those times. I try to shoot to buy enough for 4-6 weeks which will last me until they go on sale again.

We spend about that each week, pending we don't have to get diapers or formula.

We usually get enough for 4 meals and get sushi or pizza for the last night:
4 fresh veggies (green beans, baby spinach, asparagus, broccoli, corn sweet potatoes, zucchini)
Tomatos
Avocados
4 meats/seafood
Couscous
Black beans
1 gallon milk
1 dozen eggs
1 lb deli meat
Shredded cheese
Sliced cheese
2 boxes of cereal
1 loaf of bread
Sour cream
Coffee
Coffee creamer
Protein bars
Oatmeal
... I think that's usually it.

**I'm not sure this is the right board**

I know there has been a lot of threads about your grocery budget and how to cut back. I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone else buys on a weekly basis. I try to limit to one shopping trip on Sundays.

My total was $115, a bit over our budget but we really stocked up being the start of the month. We live in Florida. I already had 2 packs of chicken breasts, 2 packs of organic ground beef, and 1 piece of salmon in the freezer.

Shredded Cheese (2) - $4
Chobani Greek Yogurt (13) - $13
Lamb Shoulder - $7
Ribeye Steak (2) - $24
Chop Steak - $10
Turkey Sausage (LO breakfast) (2) - $3
Cream Cheese - $1.50
Gallon Whole Organic Milk - $6
Dzn Eggs (not organic) - $2
Ritz crackers (2) - $4
Artichoke hearts - $3
BBQ Sauce (2) - $2.50
Chex Mix (2) - $2.50
Grapefruit (1) - $1
Onion (1) - $1
Green Bell Pepper (1) - $1
Salad Mix (2) - $5
Sweet Peppers - $2.50
Corn (5) - $2
Sweet Potatoes (3) - $1.50
Bananas (8) - $2.50
Spaghetti Squash - $4
Strawberries - $2.50
Mandarins - $8

Basically, I got our weekly staples (milk, eggs, yogurt, fruit) plus 4 dinners of red meat. If I just got that I would have for sure been under $100, but I bought a few things for snacks that were on sale.
