Poor guy! HFM is so awful.

Movies and smoothies get us through. L doesn't usually get juice but when sick we offer her anything she'll drink. Including milk shakes. After a few days of not eating I am happy with whatever calories she can take in.

Hugs mama!

Poor E  Last time A was really sick, our doctor suggested giving freezies, or making popsicles with PediaLyte to get more fluids into her as it would be like a treat and tempt her to try them. Hope he feels better soon!

I give LO lukewarm baths when she has a fever. She loves bath time generally, and when she's sick she seems to find it soothing and it helps bring the fever down.

Hope your LO feels better soon!

Just keep pushing fluids. Once the rash fully appears he will be himself again.

That was us too, lots of snuggle, no eating and medicine to keep the fever down. Once the fever breaks it'll be better.

Hugs!!!

E has HFM! Happy Mother's Day to me, huzzah! (insert sarcasm here!)

So far he's spent a lot of time either sleeping in my arms or in our bed with one or both of us. Most of his awake time is spent cuddled under a blanket on the couch watching movies--Hello, Frozen! (side note: when I was 4 me and my 3 older brothers all got the stomach flu. We spent a few days camped out on the couch, watching movies--I remember watching The Wizard of Oz for the first time. My poor mother, 4 sick kids, and then she got it and her MIL had to come over and help...)

He's not eating much, but I did get a peanut butter and banana pancake down him this morning, and he ate most of a slice of pizza tonight. We've also given him PediaSure shakes in his bottle and a frozen smoothie bar. His urine output was low today, so I'm going to try chilling some water tonight (we usually drink room temp, but I just read that colder water will be more soothing), and probably offer PediaLyte tomorrow as well.

We've been alternating Tylenol and Motrin to try to control his fever, which has ranged from 100.3-103.3 over the past 24+ hours (it was 102 when I picked him up from daycare yesterday--they hadn't called me because I would be there within the hour. Even if I hadn't spoken with his teacher beforehand I would have known he was sick the second I saw him--sitting up against a wall on the playground. Not my normal, high energy kid :(

He's in his crib, now, but a bit ago he woke himself up coughing so hard that he was gagging...I was holding him by then and was full prepared to be thrown up on. He immediately fell back asleep in my arms, and, a bit later, didn't even stir when I stood up and put him back in his crib (which is basically unheard of around here...)

Anyway, co-sleeping, cuddling and movies, PediaSure, frozen smoothies and Tylenol. I just read that I should also try jello, and mixing a bit of Benadryl into some Maalox and giving him a few ccs--supposed to relieve some throat discomfort.

Any other tips/tricks you want to share? Has your LO had HFM? How long did it last? I'm over it already...I hate seeing my baby so miserable and unable to really do anything about it!
