But I left the stove on while bringing it to a boil... oops. How long do you usually let it sit for? I read somewhere like 7 or 8 minutes but find that the yolks are still a bit under at that point. And yes, I was able to salvage the pot!! Were you able to salvage the pot?</p> <p>FYI, I don't hard boil eggs with the heat on. I put the eggs in a pot, cover with water, bring to a boil, and then I turn off the heat. The eggs cook in the hot water in about 25 minutes. I left them boiling on the stove for probably an HOUR, and JUST remembered them!! All the water was gone, the eggs exploded in the pot, and the pot looks a bit ruined. Hopefully I can salvage the pot (a nice calphalon one!) with a good scrubbing before DH gets home in an hour, haha. #FAIL </p>
