@kjpugs: I think I did see your LO's costume! Awesomeness! :-) Thanks for the link!! I can see why the lip balm would not be a good choice.. we did recently stock up on an extra two bottles of Sriracha due to that plant in CA being partially shut down :-)

@T-Mom: I think Urban Outfitters has them? Also if your DH loves sriracha as much as mine (ps- did you see our LO's halloween costume?) he will love any of this... (the popcorn is good! the lip balm is NOT.) http://shop.theoatmeal.com/collections/sriracha

@kjpugs: The one line a day book is such a great idea! I actually just stuck one for moms on my own baby registry because I have been challenged to think of things to put on it (I'm having 3 showers but we already have all our big stuff from garage sales) and I'm not a huge journaler or scrapbooker because I can never find the time, but I think that's something I could actually keep up!!

We have a pretty low gift budget this year...

Mom/Dad: Framed 8x10 pro family photo from our wedding in September and a "family" board game (we always play board games when we get together at their house)
Little sister/BIL: Dumbbells for her because she wants to workout at home but doesn't have any, and a Whole Foods gift card
Older sister: Secret surprise
Nephew: Multi-colored wooden block set in a pull-along wooden trailer
MIL/FIL: Framed 8x10 pro family photo from the wedding, family board game (haha exact same as my parents)
SIL: No idea and DH has no ideas either, I want to do a gift card to a nice restaurant for her and her boyfriend but he says it's too impersonal. Sigh.

ETA: Just realized I forgot DH! We said we wouldn't exchange gifts but I have a feeling he's got something up his sleeve, so I ordered him a sampler of 6 different hot sauces (he looooves hot sauce) and I'll probably get him some scratch-off lottery tickets.

I don't give gifts to my parents any longer, but I do gift to my special aunt/godmother...this year I got her a 3 month subscription to harry and david for a light sized fruit delivery. I made 3d versions of the fruit in paper and will wrap it up in a clementine carton.

i have also gifted this fruit of the month to my father for father's day, one year I gave him 3 months of peaches and he loved it.

@kjpugs: My parents are so hard because they are really up on all technology and sort of buy themselves whatever they want! They already have netflix and hulu plus, and an apple tv and they both have laptops and iPads AND a kindle fire(dad) and nook(mom). Ugh lol. They also already have iPhones and and wii with games. Jewelry is sort of a go-to for me with my mom but it feels like a bit of a cop-out since I do it so much. Same with clothes or spa gift cards. Her latest hobby is knitting but she already has a bunch of needles and patterns so I don't know that she really needs anything else. And my dad is really into scuba (just got his international license this year) but all that equipment is super expensive. Bahhh they make it hard haha.

@Mae: I know- why are parents SO HARD to shop for!!!!!!! My mom really likes beading so I think maybe something with that (she makes jewelry.) It's also her first Christmas as a grandma so I'm thinking of things related to E... I have an ornament that we can put her footprint in to give her, but that's so small, I have to think of something else.

Something I got my mom last year that was great- a Roku! She used it to get Netflix and Hulu and is obsessed with watching series on there like Downton Abby, start to finish. (Roku is a streaming video player- you use it to access Hulu, Netflix, Pandora, Amazon Prime video, etc, just like you'd use an Xbox, etc to do those things. It's super easy.) This would make a great gift especially paired with a gifted subsription to netflix or hulu!
