I second the apple cider vinegar-- I thought it was the most counter intuitive thing but it was immediate relief! I wonder if Kombucha would work the same way...

TUMS. i normally suffer from acid reflux and take pepcid all the time, but my doctor said try tums first to see if it works, plus it has the added benefit of calcium. i pop those things like candy. also helps if you take note of when the reflux is worse...for me, it sucks after i eat pineapple, after i eat greasy carb-y foods, and sometimes when i'm hungry. then you can avoid those factors if you can. one of my friends suffers from major reflux and has to stop eating before 6pm every night, otherwise she'll get it when she goes to bed.

I always drink a capful of apple cider vinegar. It works for me! Also I have used pickle juice and baking soda, they all work for me. Good luck!!!

Tums!!! The nurses asked me if I had acid reflux after I delivered and I said, "yes! A lot! How did you know?" - and they said its because my baby was born with a full head of hair. Its probably an old wives tale but they said its always been true based on their experiences! Interesting huh? You'll have to let us know if your baby comes out with a bunch of hair :)

I have had the heartburn and reflux from hell. Just whenever I think it can't get possibly any worse it does. So bad in fact, I would be sleeping, have the reflux, start choking and vomiting! UGH. I was extremely stubborn about taking anything at all, around 32 weeks it was so horrendous I asked my doctor and he advised me to take Prilosec. I bought the target brand in the highest dosage, I think it is 150 and it has helped HUGELY.

@MrsMccarthy: Zantac is awesome! Take one in the morning and one last thing before you go to bed. They don't work straight away, so take some Gaviscon or Tums at the same time, as they're a quick fix but not as long-lasting as Zantac. Kick that acid's butt!!

If you talk to your doc, they make give you a prescription. Mine prescribed me prilosec, since it was pretty much a daily occurance for me.

Tums Smoothies are my remedy, not creative though. I made the mistake of having OJ yesterday and paid for it... but 2 tums later and it was better. I'm 28 weeks, so I feel like it'll be getting worse soon!

Ah you poor thing! My doctors told me to never eat fruit and veg on its own, only with some protein, and not to drink with food, instead about 20 minutes before and after. Those tips have helped, plus Zantac is my lifesaver! Hope you feel better soon.

I am 33 weeks and 1 day and my acid reflux has reached fever pitch. I propped myself up a bit but it still didnt help. I even get it when i am upright sometimes. i think it's because he is making his way up as my uterus gets bigger. I know he probably wont drop for another 2-7 weeks. What can you recommend? Please help! It's making me so miserable.
