Last night, there were absolutely no pacifier wakeups (or wake-mommy-ups as baby is half asleep). There have lately been 2-5/night so I was THRILLED that lo slept 11 hours straight! :)

She also got into the sitting position just a little while ago this morning and she's been practicing it! She's almost eight months and has been sitting up for a couple months now but she hadn't been able to totally get up on her own til now! On to crawling...

Two things happened yesterday that made me so happy. E woke up 3 hours earlier than usual and would not go back to sleep. Normally not a huge problem...he'd later compensate with a (hopefully) longer nap. But we were going out to lunch with my ILs. He was so tired and I was so nervous that he was going to throw a tantrum in the restaurant, but he sat quietly in the high chair and happily ate pieces of a roll, salmon, applesauce and pork loin. Didn't fuss once, not even with random strangers would come over and stroke his head (mostly old ladies, there were a lot of them in there yesterday). He was very mellow, even though it was obvious to us how exhausted he was.

The second was during a wake-up last night. He was hysterical....like not a "I want attention" cry or a "I threw my paci come get it" cry or a "I woke up and can't put myself back to sleep" cry. It was a panicked, desperate cry. I was in tears trying to soothe him, and then DH came in and took him. He was still super upset after we changed him, but then he saw one of our cats and wanted to pet her. Normally his petting involves grabbing at her fur and tail, but last night he was gentle and stroked her back (sometimes with DH's help) and would giggle between strokes. It seems like such a small thing but we've been working hard at trying to teach him to be gentle with the cats, and last night it felt like that paid off (and also totally calmed him down).

Ellie has been taking Lorelei in her lap and reading to her (mostly in secret). It just makes me so happy to see her showing love for and thoughtfulness towards her sister that way.

Lorelei has started trying to feed her toys. She'll take a fork or spoon and then hold it to a toy's mouth and make munching noises. It is so adorable!

@78h2o: @yoursilverlining: That's so awesome!! I would be super proud to have a happy baby on a plane!

@sandy: Wow!! That's incredible :-)

@Bao: Awwww

@LuLu Mom: @oliviaoblivia: I remember getting excited about that milestone - it's the first "big" one!

@Mrsjets: I would love to see that! (fyi - if you upload it to youtube and post the link into a thread, it will automatically pull the video in)

@lemondrop: LOL! Doggie!! Did you see the picture I posted on IG w/ her and our great dane? My heart melted :-)

@2PeasinaPod: Cute! Crawling isn't too far away - Isn't it hilarious to see them crack up?

@HLK208: Yay for making it a whole day w/o a tantrum!! Hopefully it continues. She only started it a couple months ago, but I feel some of your pain.

DS has been REALLY good lately and it's been about 2 years since we've gone a full day without a tantrum! He just turned 4...I think the terrible 3's are finally leaving us!

DD, at 11 months, spent her entire bath last night washing herself with her wash cloth. It was the cutest thing!

@BabyBoecksMom: So sweet! I love that she took her pacifier out to say it all too!

DS is 7 months, and he's been getting up on all fours and rocking back and forth. Then he'll catapult himself forward on the bed and start cracking up. I'm just proud of him that he's getting closer to crawling!

We have a similar experience, he's calling everything (usually with fur) a doggie right now. We went to a petting zoo and he called the deer a doggie. We walk around my IL's neighborhood and see dogs everywhere- doggie, doggie, doggie! Daddy picks us up at the airport- doggie! We go home to his dog after a week away- nothing.

He walked up to me yesterday as I was getting ready for work and says very clearly- Booba (one of our nicknames for him). So I fed him breakfast :)

Love these!

This morning, when I dropped him off at daycare, his teacher showed me their art project from yesterday (flowers where their hand prints were the flower part) by pointing out that his was the cutest one up there -- the only one where you could actually make out a perfect hand print instead of a smear. She said, "I swear he's a genius baby, he opened his hand all nice where all the other babies had their hands in a fist! He made it so easy!"

Cue big mommy head.

LO just completed her 8th flight and was the best baby! She took her bottle during take-off, fell asleep as soon as she was done and slept the entire flight. When we got off the flight I put her in the sling, which woke her up for a couple of minutes. When we disembarked the pilot said "bye " and she waved and then fell back asleep; slept all through our layover and slept the entire second flight! Woot woot so proud!!

DS is 11 months so we have just started taking him to the park ( it was a loooong winter!). The park right beside us doesn't have the baby swings so DH and I just put him on our lap to swing but on Tuesday we went to a different park and I put him in the baby swing and he started pumping! I only had to push him the first time and he was in it for a good 5 mins! I have a video on my iPhone, I wish I could share it!

My baby is no longer a baby and is becoming a little boy with manners and a caring attitude. He says "bless you mama" if you sneeze, he says "please" and "thank you", and is starting to ask questions to show interest in others with his little "what doing mama?".

LO surprised me with a 4 line prayer she learned in her preschool. She just turned two a few months ago. I had never heard it before so she taught it to me by saying it again and again. She clapped when I finally got it all right.

My LO is almost 18 months and I've been starting to think about potty training for awhile. I've put her on the the potty just for practice and nothing usually happens, BUT TODAY I put her on the potty after breakfast and she did a poo in the toilet...I WAS SO HAPPY ALL DAY :). I know she is far off from full on potty training, but I was so pumped that she went poo on the toilet (she has one of those child seats that you put on the regular toilet)

@BabyBoecksMom: aww, what a smart cookie!

My LO rolled over for the first time on purpose yesterday (she's done it a few times accidentally over the past few weeks). Today, she rolled back to front and front to back about 20x! She was grinning from ear to ear, totally tickled with herself.

And yesterday, at the end of a 3 hr plane flight, the person across the aisle leaned over and said, "You make it look easy." I was proud of both of us.

DD has been awful lately and it's really tested my patience, but tonight she made me so proud. Before her bath, she pulled out an old snowman decoration from under the sink, pulled out her pacifier and said "Ball!!". Then, when we were reading her bedtime book (Moo, Baa, LaLaLa), she pointed at the dogs, took out her pacifier, pointed to the dog and said "doggie!" (I'm impressed that she even took out the pacifier - haha). Then, when we got to the page with the horse and she blew a raspberry after I tried to make the horse sound. She's 15 months but I was shocked at how much she is grasping!

What's your latest proud mom moment?
