I echo trying to keep something in your stomach at all times. I always had a bag of Cheerios and hard peppermint candies in my bag at all times. As far as real food went pretty much everything was unappealing...I managed plain noodles with a little bit of butter/parm cheese a few times, but the bulk of my diet was peanut butter sandwiches (sometimes with jelly).

Cracker or a granola before sitting up out of bed, cool showers (the heat made me sick), gum immediately following meals (switch the flavor up) and eventually I had to get on Zofran due to weight loss, and it is the miracle drug.

Honestly, nothing cured it completely, only took the edge off to the point I could half-way function. Miserably, but function. Taking B6, Ginger Pill & Unisom (took one pill at night since I needed to be awake during the day) along with Zofran (lifesaver) helped some. Like others have said, don't let your stomach get empty, ever. As disgusting as eating may sound, try & find the lesser of the evils & eat a bit of it. For me, cheese & crackers, dried fruits, cashews, apples helped.

Protein right before your usual nausea times also helped me the second time around! If you can stomach it, that is...!!

Grazing. I just kept eating small amounts of food all day. I had dry Cheerios in a container by my bed to snack on overnight and before I got up. Then grazing all day, mostly carbs and whatever sounded slightly appealing. I couldn't tolerate a full stomach so meals were very small but frequent. Also no belts or waistbands or anything that would put pressure on my abdomen.

Hang in there!

B6+Unisom, taken at night, will increase appetite and decrease nausea vomiting the next day. I am almost 24 weeks and if I don't take it at night, I still have no appetite the next day and usually vomit about 24 hours after the missed dose. I had HORRIBLE nausea and vomiting in the first trimester. Hang in there - it gets better!

@Springtime: I felt the same way. So nauseous that nothing sounded good or smelled tasty ever. I suggest eating cold, 'watery' fruit like grapes and canned peaches. While they are sweet, they didn't bother me so much when they were cold. They were my main diet in the first trimester. And they aren't too bad for you!

I also could eat Nacho Cheese Doritos for some reason and be ok with that...not sure if you want to go there, though haha!

Good luck! Know that it will pass soon.

Like @Ash & @Mrs. Bee I live by my unisom + B6. I had to up to a full tab of unisom and 50mg of B6, but I've been taking it since week 5 (I'm 12w) and I don't plan on quitting it until my nausea completely goes away!

I've had the ginger candies in my past pregnancy and those helped (Gin Gins) but they don't with this one.. the ginger just tastes weird to me this time around. But it could work for you! It's kind of spicy.

I eat 2 crackers before bed (like literally right before I pass out) and then 2 when I get up to pee in the middle of the night then 2 again when I wake up. It's either a Ritz cracker or saltine but I swear this helps me get through the worst parts of my nausea (evening and am)

Also, if I ever have a small craving for chicken or eggs or cheese, I'll eat it. The protein really sticks with me and helps for the rest of the day. It's rare that I'm craving those things these days, though =( It's mostly mexican food and flaming hot cheetos haha.

Not much helped. The B6+Unisom combo made it a little better, but it would keep the puking to, say, 4x/day instead of 7. I ate bags and bags of animal crackers. They were the only kind of cracker that sounded good.

Throwing up was the only thing that worked to make me feel "better" for the day, and it ended up being unavoidable about 10 minutes after getting up. Better is of course relative! After that I just did bland food, Sierra Mist (real sugar) and lemon lime Gatorade. It was never serious enough to me use rx needs.

For me Unisom and B6 did nothing. I had horrible stomach acid, so I tried a lot of antacids, eventually Prilosec worked, but we didn't get to trying it until 20 something weeks when the throwing up stopped.

Re the unisom-- my midwife told me to take it at night and that it would continue helping in the morning. I only took it a few times and can't say whether it really helped or not-- I was so paranoid about it, even though EVERYONE including my midwife said it was 100% fine.

For me, keeping bland food in my stomach at all times was the biggest thing. Like, never, ever be separated from you snacks, even if it's just cheerios in a baggy in your purse and next to your bed. The second you feel a twinge of hunger or nausea, have a little handful of cereal or saltines or ritz crackers. And get protein where you can tolerate it-- I felt better if I ate more protein but some just wasn't appealing. I lived on meatball subs for lunch for like 2 weeks straight.

Ginger chews helped too, even though they tasted kind of gross. Good luck-- hopefully it will be short lived.
