We've tried different things based on what the room provides. Some room have a sofa or 2 sofa chairs so we take off the cushions, lay down sheets and make a makeshift bed for LO. If it's a sofa, I'll place a chair with the back to the seating part to prevent LO from rolling off (and later the floor with the extra cushions just in case). If there isnt a sofa then we typically cosleep. When there are 2 queens, I try to make to fun for LO with the extra pillows hotel beds usually have... My LO had a blast with the fort we made :)

We haven't travelled with 2 yet, but our last trip with a 2.5 year old LO, we still got suites, since we wanted to stay up after she went to bed. That hotel room had 2 queen beds in the bedroom, though, so LO had her own next to ours, and it was a fairly miserable night. She took forever to go down (fine), and then woke up in the middle of the night and kept both of us up! The next night (different city), we had a king bedroom with a pull-out couch in the living room. DH and I slept on the pull-out, and LO had the king all to herself. That was much better, and we all got more sleep, even with the uncomfortable bed!

she was 23 months and in a crib usually and we got a room with 2 queens. she kept running around the room, even when we tried laying down with her. i can't even remember how long it took for her to fall asleep, but it was pretty awful. DH said he never wanted to switch her to a regular bed! ha.

@Andrea: @lamariniere: Unfortunately, all the apartments with 2 bedrooms on airbnb are quite pricey in the neighbourhoods we are looking to stay in. I think i'll have to keep looking!

@Mrs. High Heels: @Rubies: She isn't that great at co-sleeping (or even room sharing) - she also wakes up a lot earlier!

@SugarplumsMom: Ummm, my biggest fear!

@Mamaof2: @Mrs. Bee: @LuLu Mom: @Baby Boy Mom: @Mrs. Yoyo: @Rainbow Sprinkles: Did they have a hard time falling asleep with you guys in the same room?

Thanks for your replies, everyone! Looks like i have to either keep looking or pray that we can all share one room together.

IT wasn't that abd for us, we took the PNP for her to sleep in (when she was 2) but she didn't want too and slept in the other queen bed. Once LO is out she's out so we could turn on the TV and what not at that point.

The only hard part was for us is trying to get the kids to sleep at their bedtime while we are wide awake - we had to turn off all the lights and TV and sit in the dark until they fell asleep - highly suggest a separate bedroom if you can!

If the room has a couch, even if it doesn't pull out, you might be able to turn it around so that the seating part faces the wall, so it's contained on three sides.

I've also heard of parents using the bathtub, but I am not so sure I feel comfortable with it.

We cosleep, so we're all three in a king bed. It's a special treat for my son, but my husband hates it.

we are facing this issue in a few weeks. i ordered an inflatable toddler bed from amazon to put on the floor. the room with 2 queen beds was more expensive, which isn't such a huge issue, but i also worry about LO rolling off a regular bed.

i guess we'll all have to go to sleep at the same time, but such is life.

@Freckles: When the kids were 2.5 years old and 3 months old, we went on vacation and R shared a bed with my husband. It took her longer to fall asleep than normal because she was excited but it wasn't horrible. Actually, the only horrible part is that she woke up earlier. To avoid disturbing her sleep (she hates cosleeping), DH would lay down with her until she fell asleep and then got out and slept on the couch.

I slept on the other bed with the baby.

No experience, with a hotel, but we always rent a house as a more affordable way to get the space so that is worth considering. We've been renting houses with at least 3 bedrooms so both kids can have their own rooms. My kids aren't used to co-sleeping either so this has worked for us and they STTN on vacations, like normal.

We always get two queens- one adult and one kid per bed. We push one of them to the wall and the other one gets lots of pillows on the floor just in case. It's not a problem though it does mean that often time we all go to bed at the same time.

If you are in a hotel you can usually request a roll away bed. We've had good luck with that, and some rooms have pull out couches too. Another solution is airbnb and book a 2 or 3 bedroom apt.

Hmmm we always had this issue too when traveling, DD is 2 and had never had a smooth co-sleeping experience, so we knew co-sleeping in a bed together was not a good idea. Also until recently we had a tough time even sleeping in the same room with her because I would wake up at every move or sound. So traveling was impossible except when we could do air bnb with a separate bedroom and living room area or a cheap suite hotel. When we do travel she still fits nicely into a travel crib (Phil n teds travel crib) I got used for cheap. She def doesn't fit in a pack n play anymore and hotel cribs aren't reliable since one we were given was made of metal bars that squeaked at the slightest touch. Is it an option to get a different travel crib that is longer? Our girl still fits nicely on hers and she is 36 inches tall. I suppose you could bite the bullet and give it a go in a proper bed but I personally am trying to delay that transition to a proper bed as long as possible!

I'll be honest, in the beginning it was rough! She wasn't used to cosleeping so there was basically no sleeping. Eventually she learned to and we all sleep great now, but when we first started no one slept.

What have your experiences been like sharing a hotel room with a toddler who no longer fits in a crib/pnp?

We typically get a suite (DD gets her own separate area) when traveling with DD but now that she no longer fits into a pnp (she is about 32 months old) I am debating whether I should just get a room with 2 beds. It will save us $100 per night! I have a feeling that since she will have to sleep in a big bed, she won't want her own room. I will most likely share a bed with her and DS will be in a crib.

Anyone have an experience they can share? Was it horrible?? :meh:
