I sent a picasa album once a week for the first year or so and now do every 1-2 weeks. Keeps me organized too, which made it easy to make photo books later. Videos we do a couple a month when we can catch something cute. My parents don't use FB, and anyway in the long run I don't really want to spam everyone with kid photos on FB. So I just built a Picasa album and will start archiving everything there. In the long run I will probably put more photos there than I do on FB. I thought that was a nice compromise to keep the ease of Facebook but make it a little more protected.
