I had that on a Monday night, mild contractions started on Wednesday, full labour started early Thursday morning, and DD was born Thursday evening (on her due date!) I had never heard of this 'lightning crotch' thing until about a week or so earlier and there were definitely mixed results online about whether or not it meant labour was impending.... it definitely was for me!

oh my gosh this happened to me allll the time. It actually is an extension of the sciatic nerve; sciatica not only affects the back but the front as well. I was going to the chiropractor consistently and that helped a bit.

But yeah it was awful awful awful... oh if only it was the cervix dilating lol!!

Oh! Rolling on a yoga ball helped :)

Happened to me in the last weeks of my pregnancy. I was always hopeful that it was my cervix dilating, but that never happened for me...I went to 41 weeks and my cervix never progressed (ended up in c section) so I don't know what causes the pain...

Yes!! I had that and it was so annoying. I don't remember when it went away but I didn't feel any of my pregnancy aches after I had the baby. Hope you're getting some rest today!

I had major left groin pain from my ligaments loosening. My OB said it'll only go away from giving birth. I was 32 weeks. It did go away about a couple of weeks after I gave birth. But it was quite painful. I couldn't lift my my left leg at all w/o feeling a sharp pain. Now I have right hip pain and I'm 5 months pp. Yay. I hear the ligaments loosening stays with you until you're done nursing. At least that's what one of my friends told me the other day.

I've been having those since my first trimester and my doc said they were totally normal. So for me it definitely wasn't my cervix dialating!

I am just about 34 weeks pregnant on top of being super sick since yesterday I have been having sharp shooting pains in my lady parts. It's really sharp and just shoots down then it's gone. I've been getting them alot today. Did this happen to you? I've read it could be my cervic dialating? How long before labor did this start happening to you? I'm not worried I'm just hoping it's my body getting ready for labor in the next few weeks.
