@Silva: @Anagram: Yeah, I tried patting, and she forced her way up. We then tried a little gentle "holding her down" (ha), which made her mad. She didn't nap at all yesterday, but she did go down to sleep last night, and only woke once. I had to hold her for her nap today. This 9 month sleep regression is horrible!!! I will keep trying.

@Silva: @Vegmama: the butt pat is really good for keeping my LO down, even now that LO is 15 months and can run around her crib. I saw one of her daycare teachers doing it to another baby and thought it was strange--and then I did it to my LO and it worked. The bad part is leaning over the crib, because that position makes 5 minutes feel like an hour.

this sucked and lasted 3 weeks for us. eventually we did some unattended CIO because there wasn't much else we could do. Like, if we were in there, she'd just stand up. If we set her back down, she'd stand up again. We did this for 2 hours one night. It was awful. Hope it doesn't last as long for you!

@catomd00: When you say to teach her to sit down, what do you mean? Like, support under her arms, and kind of push down?? She has no balance ... Honestly, I cannot believe she's pulling herself up. Aside from that part, she has no balance, tends to push her feet back, and has no idea how to hold onto the rail! ;)

I tried to teach her during the day how to sit herself down. It took a few nights of smacking her head before she learned she probably shouldn't pull up anymore. Now she does because she knows how to sit down!

As for putting them to sleep when they stand up... Partly it's just a phase you have to get through I think. What I do though is just go in and lay her down and say time to go to sleep. I usually don't have to do it more than 2-3 times.

I never thought about a sleep sack! Hmmmm ... I feel like she'd still try to stand up, but maybe it would keep her down? I am all for staying in and patting her back. This is all new, as of today. We had a champion sleeper until this 9 month sleep regression. Now, we are all delirious, and she's all like, "Hey guys! Look what I can do now!!!"

It was a phase for us. Now, she'll sometimes sit up and play with her paci, but usually doesn't stand until she's ready to get up in the morning.

@lamariniere: lucky you! The first time my LO pulled up--ever--was in her sleep sack, in her crib. And she walks in it now, haha. But she's always been a bad sleeper that finds "excuses" to not sleep.

My daughter is just a month older than yours, but she has been in a sleep sack for over a month (the weather got cool fast) so she hasn't been able to stand up in her bed in the sleep sack. So far it's working.

@Vegmama: When my LO went through that, I just kept laying her back down (by then she was a tummy sleeper) and patting her butt for a while until she calmed down enough to fall asleep.

In fact, I still have to do that now for MOTN wakeups.

I think it's usually just a phase. We put up bumpers in the crib because I was more worried about him smashing his head on the sides than rolling over and suffocating against them. I did do CIO but I wasn't really comfortable with it once he was in the standing stage. Sometimes I can get him to lay down and I'll rub his back, sometimes I've sat next to him on the floor. And sometimes he naps on me in the recliner. For whatever reason only have issues with naps, never night time sleep.

Our LO has started pulling herself up on everything. She was on a really awesome bedtime routine for naps/nighttime, but now it's gone to crap. I know she's tired, we do our regular nap time routine, but as soon as I lay her down, she pops up. She's not stable, so she's falling over an hurting herself. This starts hysteria on her part, and there's no way to calm her, other than picking her up. She's also going through 9 month sleep regression. :crying:

Any advice? We do not do cry it out. I'm okay with some attended crying, but I feel like having me in there with her is a distraction now (standing, laughing, smiling at me).
