@Mrs. Sunshine: lol! I was terrified to wean DD off her merlin sleep suit and you will get a few rough nights, but I swear eventually they do learn to settle themselves!

try a love to swaddle up? http://www.lovetodream.com/

they come in bigger sizes she can still move her arms but it's slightly restricted. We used these instead of a swaddle. FYI my LO rolled in it too but could still pop her head up.

@Mrs. Sunshine: that's why I liked my solution. It doesn't give as much mobility as a zipadee, but I feel like if they flip they can still push up with their hands. But I only used my not truly sleep safety kosher hack when baby was sleeping in a crib in our bedroom right next to me. Ugh. Night flailing and rolling is the worst!

@Mrs. Sunshine: I would just be nervous about getting her "hooked" on swaddling at this point and then in a week when she does start rolling over having to break the swaddle and go through a transition all over again.

The Zipadee is good bc it can still be used when they roll.

@T.H.O.U.: she doesn't seem to want to roll in her sleep but she has been able to roll both ways for about a month and has been rolling consistently for about 2 weeks. I've never used a zipadee zip but I feel like she would figure out how to use her hands in it somehow lol but I won't know till I try!

@Mrs. Sunshine: That brand was the worst for big babies.

How is she doing with rolling over? You wont want to swaddle when they roll.

Maybe try a Zipadde Zip?

We took one of the 0-9 month carters sleep sacks that has arms, and tied the arms in knots. Kind of like a loose woombie or a zipadee, except we didn't have to buy a new thing.

I don't know if this will help but when we swaddle weaned we were using the halo sleep sacks with swaddle wrap. We started by swaddling with one arm out for a few days to make it easier. You could try that? Or you might just need to wait it out.

You might need to just wait it out... It gets bad too once they know how to crawl/pull up! have you tried a zipadeezip? I loved our merlin magic sleep suit too, but just know she won't be able to use it for long if she can roll around in it (it's heavier/lumpier so a little harder to roll in than swaddles).

We've recently had to start swaddling my 5 month old because she cannot stop moving her arms and waking herself up. Like taking an hour to fall asleep, waking up every 30 minutes because she's pulling out her paci, pulling her hair, trying to eat her clothes, trying to touch the wall, you get the picture. We started swaddling her very tightly in one of the Summer infant swaddle me velcro swaddlers. It worked for a few days but she's started busting out of it and waking up again. I think she might be too big for it but I know that people usually stop swaddling at this age, not start. Should I see if I can size up? Should I go the traditional swaddle route? Do I need to double swaddle? What was your experience with a flailing baby and what solutions worked for you?
