@JoyfulKiwi: That's a great tip - thank you. I was wondering if making the cots up might be part of the students' tasks, and I love it. DD has just started showing interest in making her own bed at home (hooray!), but it's a bit hard for her because she has a toddler daybed that is enclosed on three sides. A cot will be great practice!

Thanks again! Sounds like it should be relatively straightforward...I'll probably just buy a complete sheet set, and send a blanket/stuffed animal as well. Anything they don't want, they can send home. :)

We have those stackable mesh cots in my preschool classroom and crib sheets are perfect. Anything bigger will slide off and be a pain in the butt. A smaller blanket is much better than a sheet as well for cover. We spray the cots with bleach water, but they dry completely before the sheets go on the cots again, so I've never had sheets damaged from that. I think any sort of stuffed animal will do, even if it's not her regular lovey.
Also, if you're looking to purchase a sheet, I'd recommend one that has a pattern that has an obvious "right" way. Like, with animals or objects that face "correctly" when it's on the cot. Its really useful for me to tell a child to align the sheet with the cot so the "puppies are looking at you", so they can put it on easily.

@PinkElephant: Each school is different. At her first daycare they only wanted a sheet. at her most recent pre-school they wanted a fitted sheet and a blanket as a cover

@PinkElephant: They put the crib sheet on the cot, then he also has a muslin blanket and a heavier fleece blanket if it's cold.

Thanks all! Does your school/center expect a complete sheet set (fitted and flat)? Or just a sheet?

Yes, I realize I could just ask the director, but I feel like I've pestered her about a few things already - I just don't want to wait for the parents' meeting (which is only four days before the start of school) to get the info. :)

The only supply my daughter has been asked to bring to her PreK program is sheets/blanket/comfort object for rest time. I believe they will be "napping" on those little stackable mesh cots. I've heard of people cutting some size of flat sheet in half (not sure if it was twin or full), but also wonder if toddler bed sized sheets might fit. If you've had to purchase a set of sheets for one of these cots, I'd love to know what you got and how it worked out.

Either way I plan to choose a pattern that is easy for her to identify but that is also cheap, since I assume the cots will get sprayed down with bleach and the sheets may look pretty ratty at the end of the year. As for the lovey...ugh...I really don't want her taking her actual lovey to school - we've never allowed that for preschool. I might let her pick out a new stuffed toy to leave there, since I don't want her to be jealous when other kids have something to cuddle.

Thanks! :)
