Sounds like shin splints - probably a combo of the weight gain, walking, and loosening of the ligaments. I'd stretch your calf and wear supportive shoes. Use ice on it for 10-15 min a few times a day if it gets bad.

My leg pain is a little different (in the back not the front), but Calcium/Magnesium vitamins at night really seem to help. I also got Charlie Horse and Restless Leg relief with acupuncture. I've also been told by my mw not to cross my legs. Hope you get some relief!

Has anyone experienced shin pain or shin splints during pregnancy? I've been having this recurring pain mostly in front of my left shin, especially if I have had my feet up and crossed but not supported (like, resting my feet on a box so the feet are propped but not my knees). I walk up to 2 miles or so a day but that's about it at this point-- 37 weeks-- and I've been doing that for ages (it's part of my commute). The only other time I felt like this was when I started training for a half marathon too quickly. I've gained less than 25 pounds so I wouldn't think the weight gain would cause it? That leg is the one where I get calf cramps at night once in a while though.

What say you, bees? Of course I was at the midwife today and didn't ask.
