Pediped,Smaller by See Kai Run, and Robeez were our first shoes. All have soft/suede flexible soles and wide enough for fat feet too like both of my boys. Never tried Stride Ride but have heard great things about them too.

@sunny: No, they are a bit stiffer, I think because there are insoles (I'd check, but baby is sleeping in the room already). The Robeez are super sot and flexible - just one layer of suede.

@shopaholic: are the soles of the Smallers just as flexible as the Robeez?

@sandy: thanks!

@sunny: Robeez - he is still cruising but very busy and active when we go out. I want to keep him in soft sole as long as possible.

We got a see Kai run smaller pair for DS. A lot of the ladies on here said their LO walked in them for a couple of months. DS just started walking so I haven't tried them out yet.

@sunny: we put her in whatever the nordstrom person told us...I think stage 2 bc they were hard soles...my LO had huge feet and started out in size 4 I believe. They are sturdy but still sleek, fitted and light.

@sunny: You might have seen on IG, I just ordered 3 pairs of Smaller by SKR for early walking (all 3 different sizes) based on the good reviews on here! I also have a couple of Robeeze I figured to get her used to wearing shoes and read they are good for beginning walkers inside and outside.

I liked the super soft soles like Robeez, Bobux and Freshly Picked moccasins. I also really like the Smaller by SKR.

We have stride rites for dd. She walked at 10m. Hers are the "non walker" ones but we still have her in them, they fit great. However we have two pairs of Under Armour runners for her and while they were probably more intended for fun/pretty she wears them all the time now. Even when home because when I take them off her somehow she eventually ends up where they are and brings them to me and sits in my lap (put on shoe routine, lol). They are a little big (size 5, smallest they make) but she walks like a pro in them (she will be a year later this month)

We only started wearing shoes out of the house all the time when we got the stride rites at 9.5m or so!

Talk to me about shoes for babies who are just learning to walk!

My LO just took her first steps this week! :-) I stopped by Nordstrom yesterday and looked around. It looks like there are Stride Rites that are classified as crib/crawl, then early walker, then walker. However, the Nordstrom salesman suggested the ones marked crib/crawl for my LO.

What did you put your early walker in? When should she be wearing shoes all the time (out of the house)?
