my LO is on the cusp of walking but has been cruising for 3 months and we keep her barefoot as much as possible and she wears Robeez mini shoes outside.

I like see kai run smaller for my new walker. We have some ministars (from target) too but she's not really steady in those yet.

I have Robeez, Pedipeds, See Kari Run smaller, and the ministsr by by Bobux at Target.

My favorites for lo are the Pedipeds for fir and the soft butbrubberized bottom and the Ministars go the best bang do your buck. $10 at the Target in J.C. in the baby aisle near the layette stuff.

We used robeez starting when he was crawling/beginning to get mobile so he had grip. Especially when he started standing. Coincidentally, it was winter too so they doubled as slippers to keep him warm. Once he was walking for about a month and about to start daycare we bought him a pair of Geox runners. We also looked at some See Kai Run and Pediped which are often recommended but the fit was best with the Geox.

I agree that you don't need to worry about outdoor walking shoes for winter. LO has been walking now for almost 4 months and I still think he will have trouble in snow. He also was an early crawler (5.5 months) and didn't walk until 12 mo so you never know!

Robeez!

They need to wear soft soles bc it mimics being barefoot as much as possible, which allows them to feel the ground under their feet, which makes it much easier for them to walk and is best for foot development.

Eta I doubt your Lo will be walking outside this winter, so I would just go for something warm and soft--I think robeez makes cute fuzzy boots.

My faves were the Robeez MiniShoes...not the suede bottom ones, but the ones with the grippy sole.

I loved the Smaller by See Kai Run shoes. Once she was walking confidently for a couple months and we moved to hard soled shoes.

We did the soft-soled Converse and Robeez (they also make furry boots) before she got confident walking.

Babies are supposed to wear soft soled shoes when they are learning to walk, right? What are the developmental reasons for that? At what point are they supposed to switch to regular soles?

I have a 6.5mo who is already crawling and getting better at it every day. (This is terrifying, but that's a separate topic!) I have the feeling he might be an early walker because is just so damn eager to do it. I need to figure out how to keep his feet warm during the winter in northern NJ.

Suggestions for cute, warm, age appropriate footwear are welcome!
