@yoursilverlining: oh ok, I'm glad to know your daughter will like it! Mine loves baking and had a blast decorating her gingerbread man so I knew she would enjoy it but I always have such a hard time knowing what will keep others entertained!

@autumnlove: fun! Hope you all have a blast and lmk how it goes!! :)

@Mrs. Jump Rope: we just ordered Shopkins bingo! How are the other Shopkins games? I saw them at target but was wondering if they would be too advanced for my 3.5 yo?

@mediagirl: I wish you could come! If only we didn't live on opposite coasts -.- wah wah.

@T.H.O.U.: good idea! We just got our first two bags and she's been begging to go and get more everyday :P

@PinkElephant: thanks for your input! I'm wondering too, if sitting still for a game like Bingo might be too hard for them. Maybe a simple bean bag toss (they have little Shopkins stuffed toys) into a shopping basket will be easier for this age group?

@pinkcupcake: can we come? I think kids that age could handle structured games. I think the two games you have planned are good. One is more structured so they have to pay attention and the other is more free and fun. They're going to have so much fun!

Shopaholic just posted that they have McD's toys right now. You could go stock up to buy them as favors! $1.69 or something like that.

I just got an Oriental Trading Birthdays catalog and they had a spread on Shopkins themed parties, so there is definitely some pre-made stuff available in terms of tableware, decorations.

I can't see my 3.5 year old and her friends all sitting still and playing bingo, but they'd love the punch board (really cute idea!), cookie decorating, or the craft mentioned above - a similar "make your own monster" idea was a huge hit at preschool! Another "game" they really like is any sort of treasure hunt where they look for hidden objects, which works inside. Or maybe something else physical? I don't know enough about Shopkins to give an example, but what about a Shopkins-inspired version of Simon Says or Duck Duck Goose?

@Bao: We love Shopkins so much! :) I don't see many party ideas online, though, so this might take some creativity!

@yoursilverlining: That's a fun idea! I was also thinking of a cookie decorating idea - make some Shopkins shape sugar cookies and let the kids frost and decorate them? Do you think that'll go over well with 3/4 year olds?

My LO has tentatively asked for a Shopkins party too! I think it would be relatively easy to make a themed cake and for a game/activity you could have a sort of make you own Shopkins - maybe print out some basic Shopkins shapes and print out eyes and mustaches etc and the kids could glue on the eyes and stuff. Just a thought!

Throwing around some ideas for my daughter's 4th birthday party in February and she thought a Shopkins party would be fun.

I'm thinking at age 3.5 - 4.5, the kids will be old enough to play a couple simple structured games? Tentatively, the party would start around 3pm and last for maybe 1.5 - 2 hours. Possible schedule:

3-3:30 - eat
3:30 - 3:45 - structured game 1 (maybe Bingo?)
3:45-4 - transition time
4 - 4:15 - structured game 2 (maybe a Punch Board? I like that idea more than a piñata)
4:15 - 430 - birthday song, cake cutting

What do you think? Since it's in the middle of the winter, we're gonna be indoors (I'm thinking of renting a room at the local community center so I don't have to entertain 15 kids at my house!). I wish I could do it outdoors so we could set up activity stations like bubbles.

Any other ideas / suggestions? Kids will be around 3.5 - 4.5 years old, mix of both boys and girls from preschool.
