We went to Lowes last night but they only had a few 9 foot unlit trees. We liked the tree and the price ($45!!) and don't necessarily want pre-lit, but our ceilings are 8.5 feet so it wasn't possible for us. So today (he's off today) he went to Home Depot and got to choose from 2 different 7.5 foot pre-lit trees. They were both over $100 but it was still 50% off of the original price, and they marked them down today. There were 3 of a Martha Stewart tree and 1 of a GE tree, and they hadn't even marked them down in the system yet-- she marked it down as he was checking out. She also offered him the display tree for 10% off but it didn't come with a box, so we took a new one. (We got the one GE tree left-- the lights twinkle while the MS one didn't, and the MS one had glitter all over so it would make a mess.) I'm so excited, and he's thinking about actually setting up the tree tonight and getting rid of our old rickety tree so that we can enjoy the new tree this year! There wasn't much, but I got some tissue paper and gift bags that don't look Christmas-y (hot pink, blue, bright green) for about $1 each. I also got purple disposable table covers for $1 and a string of large golden lights for $6. We don't celebrate Christmas, but I'll use the lights next summer for Ramadan and I'm a sucker for all the cheap gift wrap! </p> <p>I think Target and Walmart will be pretty sold out. Gahhh. Want to stop somewhere on the way home but can't decide where to go... went to a Target nearby a few days before Christmas and it was already pretty bleak. No trees left and only a few non-lit toppers. </p> <p>Any ideas where to hit up?!? </p>
