@jojogirl--maybe 3 hours. She takes about 3-4 naps. 830am or so, 11, 2, and a catnap around 430/5. I only log on weekends and she kind of gets her naps all over the place.

I've never but our daycare has a form you can fill out that indicates that you want your kid to wake up after an hour's nap (as opposed to the 2-hour nap).

ETA: DD is 2 years old, though.

Yeah.. i need to keep better notes of how her sleep is different during the day and on weekends. I know she's being stimulated a lot more at daycare than she is at home too.

@blackbird: How much does she ususally sleep total during the day?

@JoJoGirl: I say just ask them to wake her after 2 hours. If it doesn't work, then you can tell them to not anymore. I know there is a child in R's class that is woken up after 1 1/2 cause it is noted on the board with feeding and diaper times.

We have daycare wake her after 1 hour. Naps are only 1 hour long. Usually they're about 45-60min, though. I don't know that it greatly impacted her night sleep (although she has been sleeping better lately) but it mostly helps us get her DOWN at a consistent time.

@Smurfette: She naps consistently around 4 hrs. Sometimes it's 2 2-hr naps, sometimes it's one 2-hr and 2 30-min, yesterday it was 4 30-min (Weird). She often has to take another catnap when she gets home if he last nap ended around 3.. yesterday she slept 5:30pm-6pm in order to make it through til bedtime.

@Revel: Maybe I should! She has slept 2.5 hrs at a time there before..

My daycare would laugh if I asked this because all I've been wanting is them to get my LO down for naps!

I don't see a problem though with asking that they wake her after 2 hours or so. I actually know my parents did this with me in childcare when I was a little older, and I turned out OK :)

How long of stretches is she doing? Is she napping all day? Or more like 2 massive naps?

@JoJoGirl: Hopefully they're writing all the details which is why they haven't responded yet!

But yeah, maybe just say to daycare "Would you mind waking her if she's been asleep for 2 hours - I think she's been getting her days and nights mixed up sometimes!" Xander always hates being woken up, but I usually feed him immediately, so he gets over it pretty quick. Maybe that's how it will work out for your LO too?

@Adira: I gotta keep better records I guess of weekends vs. weekdays. But at home, 2 hrs is my general rule.

Who voted yes it helps?! :)

So Xander's naps are terrible at daycare, so I haven't had to deal with this yet, but at home, I usually wake Xander up if his nap gets to ~2 hours to keep him from oversleeping during the day. I have no idea if this helps or hurts him, but he's a great night sleeper, so waking him up from a nap hasn't HURT his sleep at all.

Maybe you could ask daycare to just wake her if she's been sleeping for 2 hours or so? You could at least try it one week and see what happens! :)

LO's nights have been getting shorter and shorter since she started daycare, now hovering around 9 hrs with one wakeup to eat (8-5). I'm in touch with my Isis consultant person, but I have a feeling she's going to tell me to shorten her day sleep in order to extend her nights.

Obviously daycare lets her sleep as long as she wants (as I would expect!).

Has anyone had to talk to daycare about waking their LO from naps? I hate having to do this, but admit the days we need to (weekends where we have places to be, etc), she does sleep longer at night. I hear if they approach around 5 hrs of day sleep, it's too much and cuts into nights. LO hovers around 4-4.5 right now.

She is 4.5 months old.
