Another vote for no carbs. I dropped several pounds fast when I followed the first couple weeks of the south beach diet very strictly- like no bread of potatoes or obvious carbs, but also no fruit, no sugary veggies like corn and peas. The downside was I fantasized about carbs and had no energy but for a quick fix I would do that. Oh and no alcohol. :(

@youboots: my husband went on a no carb diet while stopping his running habit and he's the slimmest he's ever been in the entire time I've known him (12 years.) Granted, he was always slim but now he's tight, no more little bit of love handles he had. He doesn't count calories, just limited carbs and sugar. Some examples of food he eats are bacon and eggs, coffee with half and half, hard and cream cheese, creamy dressing like ranch and blue cheese, butter, meat, veggies, nuts. It's basically paleo, atkins, south beach - whatever you want to call it. I thought eating everything in moderation was healthier but I can't argue his weight loss and appearance. He did strictly no carbs for about a week at first and he said you lose a ton that way, but he didn't feel good doing that so after the first week he started eating a little carb daily - prob about a half a cup/bowl worth of carbs. He also splurges once in a while, like ice cream, he's not crazy strict about it. It's more of a sustainable lifestyle now. Oh and he also drinks a lot less, esp beer. He recently got a buddy of his into it, and he said this guy lost 18 lbs in a week. Granted, he was a little heavier to begin with, and he also went ALL IN. My husband didn't think that was a healthy way to go but whatever.

@Tanjowen: Yeah, I can't wait to be back to sweet potatoes, beans, and oatmeal! But I'm going drastic because I'm addicted to carbs and sugar. It's kind of hard but I'm not mad at losing 4 lbs. this week!

I just lowered my carb intake below 100 carbs a day and dropped bloat and weight in a week. I can't go zero carbs because I hesitate to call things like fresh fruit, beans, and sweet potatoes not a healthy part of my diet. I do love the low carb because I don't feel restricted that much and I have lots of energy.

A day for me looks like:
Breakfast - scrambled eggs with cheese, cut up apple
Snack - babybel cheese
Lunch - Rotisserie chicken breast, mixed veggies, sugar free pudding
Dinner - Teriyaki salmon with frozen Asian veggies. And a bonus is that wine is carb free

I'm on day 5 of the 21-day sugar detox and I've lost 4lbs. already. If you want to eat food and not drink veggie juice for a few days -- this would work. You basically eat meat, veggies, nuts -- no grains, legumes, dairy, fruit, or starchy vegetables.

I had to cut all carbs and sugar out for my IVF cycle. I lost 5 lbs in a month. I even had to restrict some fruit. It was hard, but effective. If I ever need to lose weight again that's what I'd do.

It's not super healthy, but since it's short term, I would just do Atkins. I did it for 3 weeks in college and dropped 12 lbs. And I was probably eating 3000 cals of meat and eggs and cheese a day, haha

Typical day would be:

breakfast: eggs and bacon
snack: cheese stick
lunch: turkey and cheese rollup with mayo
snack: jello
dinner: spinach salad with chicken, bacon, and ranch
dessert: more jello

For the goal of looking more trim in photos in just two weeks, I would cut salt (to drop water weight/bloat) and just wail on your abs. At least do like a quick ab workout every day. Cutting carbs will make the scale number go down but I don't think it impacts your appearance that quickly.

@Mrs. Champagne: this is true for me too. If I eat nothing all day, but eat before I go to bed, I gain weight. If I stop eating at 5 pm, I drop weight no matter what I eat during the day. It is still so hard though!

I like this cleanse because it lets you eat solids, but you have to have a good blender.

5 lbs in 2 weeks? Just calorie restrict. I did that in August using myfitnesspal and lost 8 lbs in maybe 2.5 weeks. I think my limit was 1300ish calories unless I did some exercise, then it was a little bit more.

Do you snack after dinner? I find i can drop a couple lbs if I totally cut out the post dinner snacks (I think because normally I tend to inhale a lot once the kids go to bed!) so after dinner I try not to eat anything... Except for a glass of wine :)

I had good success losing that much weight in that time period following the South Beach diet. This was years ago, but the first two weeks of the diet are strictly no carb and the weight came off easily.

I want to be on a short term diet for about 2 weeks and a reeeealllly short term intensive diet for about 2-3 days to loose a few lbs before our 10 year anniversary photos.

For the two weeks before I'm going to do low carb, low salt- mostly veggies and proteins. And work out a couple days a week. What I'm not sure about is if I should do a 2-3 day juice cleanse-so low sodium for the 2-3 days prior. Or is it better to just stick to a low carb diet?

The only time I've dieted is when I had GD so this is not my area of knowledge. I'm the extra sauce, butter, cheese, whatever is bad for me person.

It's totally ok for you to give me the major side eye for this post. I have gained over 30 lbs since we got married and overall I feel good about how I look. But I'm putting a lot into this shoot and it's really important to me- my favorite film photographer is coming 3 hours for it and I want to look my best. We also leave for Hawaii a few days after so it's not going to hurt that I'm going to be in a bikini right after.

Any ideas/tips on how to healthfully loose 5ish lbs in 2 weeks?
