Get the hem tape if you go for the iron on adhesive. Stitch witch has multiple kinds and the heavier/non-hem ones are more permanent. The non-hem stuff is pretty dicey to get off if you ever need to lengthen them again. I made that mistake on a pair of pants in college.

I used iron on tape to 'hem' ours. The way I folded them up even made it look like they were supposed to be like that. Took maybe 20 minutes total.

I was also going to suggest iron on tape. Will look good, and it's easy.

I second iron-on adhesive, especially if it's a heavy fabric. If its a light fabric, you could always just try a good layer of strong masking tape? I hemmed pants with tape when in college :)

I know it won't look pretty, bit if you can't figure out a solution with the curtains, those paper blackout redi shades are surprisingly effective.

Have you tried iron on adhesive? Or just regular fabric tape adhesive? My Ikea ones actually came with the iron on type though I haven't needed to use it. Maybe try that so if you need to ever re-lengthen them again, it will be pretty painless

ETA: I see that its heavier suede like fabric, Then I would definitely get the iron on adhesive over the double sided fabric one!

No ideas, but chiming in to say that we did the exact same thing to shorten out blackout curtains in our room - we went the safety pin route and it looks super crappy and doesn't hang correctly. However, it gets the job done. :)

Could I shorten at the top and use cafe loops? Might look wonky....

I have floor length blackout curtains from LOs old room that I would like to use in his new room. Problem is, his bed sits under the window in the new room so I can't use floor length. They will have to be shortened by several feet. This is an old house and the windows sit high up on the wall. Ideas for shortening them without cutting and hemming? They are nice so I don't want to cut them.

I was thinking to maybe use safety pins or possibly fold them and hem them but I am afraid if I let them out the old hemline would show (it is a suede like heavy fabric). Or somehow 'bustling' the curtains with buttons and loops.

I don't really want to buy new ones! Really want to use what we already have since this is a rental I don't want to invest any money in decor.
