@erind425: I thought of you when this happened! Friday appointments moving forward for us. Your experience sounds really similar.

@twodoghouse: Oh that makes me feel better! I thought since he didn't have fever from 2 months that it was weird he did with 4 months (as I thought they said it was the same batch of shots).

@littlejoy: Interesting point about the immune system thing - I'll have to remember that next time. We're deep down the tylenol rabbit hole now :silly:

@edelweiss: I'm glad we took him, too. I would have been so stressed tonight not knowing if he was really sick or not.

He tested negative for the flu but they think it's definitely not the shots  - they said it's probably viral and to prop his crib up so he can drain. My poor little buddy!! It's days like this I hate being a working mom (especially one who took an 8 week maternity leave back in August and can't ask to take the day off).

Ugh! I'm sorry you're going through that. Our babe usually spikes a little fever (101 or less) for about 24-36 hours after her shots. Her Polio series has been the worst. She's also had some stuffiness/congestion after her dtap (tdap?).

Our doctor recommends not giving Tylenol for vaccine fevers (because the fever is the body's immune system working). BUT, obviously, if it's not related to the vaccine, then I would consider it for sure.

I hope you get some good answers!!

@LBee: I hope it's not the flu! My LOs were fine for shots at 2 and 6 months, but had fevers for over 24 hours at 4 months. Hope your little guy feels better soon!

@lbee: My LO had a fever after his 2-month shots. He got the shots at 2pm, and spiked a ~101 fever about 12 hours later. He was fussy and having trouble sleeping (in the MOTN) but no other symptoms. (Hence the reason for my "shots on Fridays only" rule I posted about in our Facebook group!) The fever was gone the next morning after one dose of Tylenol.

I really, really hope it's not the flu!! Crossing my fingers for you!

How old is your LO and when were the shots? If he's acting completely well AND the vaccines were in the last couple of days, that might be it. But if there are any respiratory symptoms, it's probably worth testing for flu! Hopefully you'll hear back from your doctor soon! :goodluck:

My LOs never got a fever and they just got really sleepy after shots in the first year.

Did you try Tylenol yet? I hope he feels better soon.

Did your LO ever run a fever when he/she got shots? If so, how high? I usually get a pamphlet from the doctor's office about how high is normal and the potential side effects with each shot, but I (of course) didn't get one this time. Now he's running a fever (101 degrees under the armpit with Tylenol in his system).

I can't decide if it's a shot fever or if he's sick. Either way, he's staying home today. His cousin has been sick (not as high of a fever, though) and he was exposed to the flu (she didn't have symptoms yet when she held him and got sick + tested positive for flu the next day) on Sunday. He has been sneezing and coughing the past couple of days and woke up this morning a little congested. Maybe it's just a perfect storm?

I have a call into the doctor's office. Dr. Google isn't helping, so I thought I would check with Dr. HelloBee.
