I didn't see the doctor and just reviewed over information with the nurse. He went with me to the first three ultrasound appointments. For LO#3, he didn't make it to a single appointment! My OB/GYN didn't even meet up until delivery day (I've had a new doctor with each pregnancy). Every other appt is pretty low key, just a BP check, fundal height, and the Doppler to hear the heartbeat; we don't have any 'down there' exams, nor do they even have scan machines in the midwives clinic (all scans are done at the radiology clinic), so there really is nothing exciting for him to see. My first appointment was just to meet with a nurse and get blood taken. I had a dating ultrasound with the second appointment so DH went to that one. Depends what they do for your first appointment. Mine was just to confirm LMP and give me some literature and vitamins to try. They wouldn’t even let DH come in the room with me because they wanted to make sure I was ok and in a healthy relationship and making my own decisions. My first appt was at about 6.5 weeks and it was the Dr saying "So you're pregnant?" asked when my LMP date was and told me what my due date would be, which I had already calculated myself. She asked if I had any questions and then sent me out to the front desk to book my next appt a month later.
