It was offered free to everyone (even though I don't work in direct patient care) and so I got it just to be safe. I've done this for 4 years, having just gotten one this week, and I haven't had the flu since. I would get it even if it wasn't mandated. I had the flu once and felt like death. Some people can have an allergic reaction if they are allergic to eggs. I never got it before I was pregnant, but I probably will going forward so I don't expose my family. But for me, the benefits of getting a flu shot outweigh the risks. So it's really up to you. If you have had a flu shot in the past and not reacted to it then I would go ahead and get one if I were you since it's unlikely that you will have a negative reation.
