If I were in your position, I would cut back on the pumping. Pumping is such a pain! And if your LO is doing fine with the transition to whole milk, I say cut yourself a break :-)

2-3 pumps a day did not work for me. My body tried to dry up completely. I am sticking with 4x until i have enough in my freezer to gwt her to her birthday. Wish I could have dropped down earlier but my body was not cooperating at all.

@kodybear: thanks, that makes sense! I think I am going to cut down to 2x a day and continue that for as long as I can tolerate ;) I do not mind pumping in the morning or at night after she goes to bed, but hate doing it during the day/at work. as far as the wcm goes, when she went on her nursing strike at 10.5 months, I continued to just pump and give her that. but around 11 months my supply dropped (prob from her not nursing) and I talked with my pedi about it. He said since she never had formula, it made no sense to do that since we would be transitioning her to wcm only a month later- so he gave us the go ahead to try it and she never had any issues with it so far...

i would probably start to wean as well, pumping is annoying! :-) i'm in the same boat tho. i pump 2x a day now and make about 1.5 bottles worth. she gets the rest in formula. i'm not really sure that 1 bottle of BM is worth it. i'm starting to cut sessions and by 12 months hope to be completely done pumping!

sorry to threadjack but just curious when your LO started wcm? since our babies were born the same month i feel like i should probably get cracking at it? @mrsjyw: are you starting wcm at 11.5 months?

@NovBaby1112: i know what you mean, i was really nervous when i did one pump the other day. and then even more nervous when my one pump yesterday produced less than the day before. i figured though that he'll be on wcm soon and as long as my AM/bedtime sessions are unaffected, i'm ready to get rid of the pump/daytime nursing sessions! and for right now, i haven't noticed much a supply issue with either AM or bedtime sessions!

@Mamaof2: haha, i know...pumping is such a pain! i give soo much props to moms who EP!

@mrsjyw: good luck! hope it goes smoothly for you too! i don't know why i am so nervous to stop pumping. i guess i still would like her to get maybe 1 bottle a day of BM (so maybe I will just pump 1-2 times instead of 4?) but i am also a little hopeful that maybe she would pick up nursing again out of the blue and I don't want to be dried up in case she decides she wants to nurse again!

BF is always nutritious, but if she's doing well with the cow milk transition, and you don't feel any need to continue i don't see why you should keep pumping!

I went down to 1 pump this week (and still nursing AM/PM), today is my first day home with DS, so i'll nurse him 1x during the day, and give him a btl for the pump i cut out at work.

end of next week, we're going to start the cow milk transition and starting to use up the frozen stash!

I'll try to make this as simple as possible. LO went on a nursing strike/early weaning at 10.5 months and is now 11.5 months and will only drink from a bottle/sippy. I have been pumping 4x a day, but am realizing she will be one soon and wondering if I should cut back to 2x a day or just stop all together after she turns one?

Is there any benefit to her getting BM after a year? I obviously would have loved to nurse her morning and night after a year, but since she won't nurse- is there any point in me continuing to pump? She likes whole milk and has been doing fine on that...
