Everything I read said that food (solids) under a year is just for fun and exploration - taste, texture, etc. Little M didn't actually consume anything until he was more like 7.5 months old, so almost 2 months into BLW. He had one solids meal a day until he was 12m.

@Purpledaisy: I think it's up to you. If your LO seems amused by it and you don't mind the mess, keep it up. We were in the same boat, exactly, so I did once a day and let him play with it. Around 7.5 months he started showing more interest and actually ate things so we slowly added in 'real meals'. I think it would've been fine to skip and revisit too though.

I feel like this right now. I've tried a little every day for 4 days. I doubt she's even swallowed a baby spoonful combined! The ped told me today that if she ate 1oz twice a day in a month I wouldn't need to supplement iron. I was like "1 OUNCE!?!?" He didn't think that was a lot. I just tried a different veggie today. But I feel like she's not interested in even playing with it or anything yet. It's a lot more work to feed her a tiny teaspoon and not even sure if she's swallowing any...

When we first started, DD didnt eat much either. At this age they are all just exploring and I wouldn't expect them to finish anything for awhile. Just let them play with it and I wouldn't worry about actual intake.

Yep. I introduced around 6 months and DS wasn't interested. I waited a week, tried again, still wasn't interested. At a little past 7 months old he started eating like a champ!

I started my daughter on solid exactly at six months and she just doesn't seem that interested. I've been letting her try one meal once a day for almost 2 weeks and she has barely actually eaten anything. She likes to put it in her mouth and spit it out and play with it. She seems to be having fun at least haha. Has anyone tried starting solids and then backed off for awhile and reintroduced them later?
