I actually got premium cable when I was on maternity leave and it was great because I was able to watch on demand and DVR shows. If you like the streaming shows/movies netflix has I would get it. They are limited but having something to pass time during late night feedings really saved my sanity

I voted other because we do have Netflix instant streaming. I haven't watched Netflix in awhile...my hubby uses it nightly to catch up on old shows. I use the iPad apps to watch current tv shows for free... So, I don't think it's a necessity, but if u have shows to catch up on, like I still have to finish Friday night lights, it's nice to have.

Btw, don't think it's realistic to watch movies while breastfeeding on Netflix.... Cuz breastfeeding doesn't last that long. And shows, never get to finish in one sitting.

Yes! I am not normally a big tv watcher, but I am spending so much time on the couch nursing and cuddling, and it's been really really nice to have an easy option for entertainment. I have just finished season one of Parenthood, watched Bunheads (aka the California Gilmore Girls) and am in the middle of Freaks and Geeks. Amazon Prime is another good option, if you don't want to pay for Netflix.

Yes! In the first two months I watched every episode of every season of Felicity, Dawson's Creek and Freaks and Geeks all in the middle of the night. My LO would be up nursing for hours on end so I needed something to help pass the time.

I've been plowing through TV shows on Netflix during my mat leave. When LO cluster feeds and I'm stuck in the glider for hours, it's one thing that keeps me same.

Netflix has totally been worth it for us! I got through almost all of Private Practice in the first few months and DH and I watched Walking Dead. We have it streaming through the xbox and love it. We dont watch a lot of movies on their but we've gotten into some great tv shows!

Since I was nursing every other hour the first few months, Netflix was my saving grace! I would just sit in the living room and watch episode after episode while I nursed, or held the baby while she slept. As a newborn, the INSTANT I put her down, she would wake up and fuss!

I don't know about postpartum use, but we recently cancelled Netflix because every movie I saw on there was bad (streaming). Instead, we have Hulu Plus. Also, we have Amazon Prime that has plenty of tv shows & movies (at the same quality or better than Netflix). And we have a Comcast/Xfinity account that has pretty good movies. All of these services have iPad apps too! It was great for when I was stuck in bed after foot surgery.

I LOVE Netflix Instant bc we don't have cable. So cheap. I prefer it to Amazon prime because that gets $$. It's nice to rent movies but TV eps are usually $1.99 EACH! I just watch TV shows start to finish on Netflix. We also have a Roku- $40-80 depending what/where you get, it allows you to do streaming stuff like Netflix, Hulu, prime, pandora, etc. it's just a tinnnny box and it has it's own remote. I never watched Netflix when we used it from our Xbox bc it was so weird to navigate it, the roku is idiot proof. So I vote yes!!!!

I watched on my iPhone and we have AppleTV so you can stream it through there as well.

I watched a ton of TV on maternity leave, sadly.... if for no other reason because it was just so quiet at home and i liked the noise, it was also great in the middle of the night when i didn't want to fall asleep.

I spent so many late night feedings watching shows on the iPad. It was a lifesaver! I didn't have Netflix at the time, but I did watch shows on the ABC and PBS app. It makes the feedings go by a lot faster and even makes waking up in the middle of the night somewhat bearable. Since having Netflix, I find a lot of good shows that I would have otherwise skimmed over.

Hmm...well I don't have an ipad and I don't particularly want to spend a lot of time on my computer.

We do get movie channels, though, and there are some tv series we can watch.

I'm not sure what kind of BlueRay player we have. I'll check when I get home.

I also won't have many visitors...family/friends don't live close enough to come visit regularly during the day.

I live off Netflix so I think I'm biased (:
We have a smart tv so it's easy to just switch back and forth between regular tv and Netflix.
In the bedroom we have an iMac, 27in screen, as our "TV" and I just put on any TV series and watch until I fall asleep. I LOVE that on the computer the next episode starts automatically (: plus, no commercials...that's important to me since I'm scared to be alone at night and scary movie commercials are not my friend (:

I never turned on the TV the first few months. It was way easier and more entertaining for me to surf the Internet and google anything and everything about my baby! :/

I have a one-year mat leave though, and I've found that i started watching way more TV after 4/5 months and Netflix has been my best friend the past couple of months.
