I would wait until after my usual luteal phase and then test. My usual one is 12 days or less, so no way that I could wait until 17dpo, but it depends on the person.

I'd wait 17 dpo. That is also when you are advised to start testing HCG if you do a blood test.

My luteal phase has been 10-11 days. So I think I'll go ahead and test on Sunday. I have some that I got with my ovulation tests - so it's not like I'm out anything ;)

i think it depends on how long your luteal phase is. if you usually get your period after 13dpo, then you should do it on that day or the day after. mine was consistently 13-14 days. even if the cycle was long or short.

Hmm well last month (our first month) I didn't even get far enough to think about POAS so I'm not sure it would hurt me that much, but I understand what you're saying. I think I might test Sunday, if it's BFN then I'll wait til Thursday. :) That is the deal I'm making with myself right now :) I want to test with my husband so that holds me accountable!

My answer depends on how you would react to a negative test? Because 12DPO is still on the early side, so you can definitely test negative then, but positive a few days later!

I had been trying for awhile and the white space on the pregnancy test started to get upsetting. I was going to wait until my missed period, but it was 12DPO, 5:00 a.m. and I couldn't sleep so tested. If you don't think you would be upset by a negative at 12DPO then I say go for it : ) If negative, you can repeat every few days. 17DPO is a long time to wait when you are waiting.

Ok, for all you fellow charters - FF says to test on Sunday the 23rd which is 12 DPO but my period isn't 'missed' until the 28th as that will have been my longest cycle. But that would be 17 DPO. When you do think I should test?
