@californiadreams: hope you nursed him and he's sleeping! That's what I would have ended up doing at that age!

well as soon as i wrote my last reply, i went to get my pump, but before i could start, we saw LO sit up on the video monitor and whimper a bit. so i was about to go in and nurse him instead. but i went to the bathroom first and by then, he had went back down to sleep again!

now he keeps sitting up and then lying down again. if i had nursed him at his usual bedtime, i would wait this out and see if he settles on his own for the night (which he has in the past).....but i think knowing that he skipped his bedtime milk, i should just bite the bullet and go in and nurse him? it might increase the chance he will sleep the rest of the night...i hope....

@T.H.O.U.: i was just starting to resign myself to that fact because i feel my breasts getting full.... and better to do it sooner than later as he went to sleep 3 hours ago.... sigh. ok, i will pump.

Yea I added a few extra comments. I would still lean toward pumping even just for 5-8 minutes.

@T.H.O.U.: i replied above before you edited your reply. i am pretty confident he will wake up tonight as he has the past few nights. He has gone through some phases of not waking at all lately, but not this past week for various reasons. so i am thinking if i don't pump now, it is ok as i will nurse during the night and he will be hungrier than usual.

However, part of me is worried that he does sleep all night and morning comes and i won't have nursed or pumped since 4pm the day before!

@SleepyMonkey: i like your answer! i hate pumping!

@T.H.O.U.: i don't like your answer! lol.

i will wait to see if there a consensus from a few other replies and see if it sways me to go one way or another. right now i am leaning towards not pumping....

Yes I would pump

Ok member mind just saw the age. If this was a younger baby I would say pump so you don't loose your supply and in case there are extra wake ups tonight if he's hungry. It sounds like you are kinda not thinking that will happen.

I would skip because 1) I'm lazy and hate pumping and 2) at this point, your supply is probably really well established and skipping it won't hurt it and 3) you'll have milk if LO does wake up tonight.

I was out during LOs bedtime tonight and so DH put him to bed. He does this every couple of weeks and LO always takes a whole bottle of breastmilk no problem and then i pump later in the evening and I usually pump out the equivalent of what LO drank (about 4 ounces).

Tonight for some reason, LO refused to drink a drop from the bottle - but still went to sleep ok and is down for the night now. So i am wondering for the sake of my supply, do I need to pump anyway? I am afraid if I do, then LO will wake up earlier than usual because he is hungry and my breasts will be empty and we will have to try bottle again.

FYI: LO is 12 months and has also lately refused the occasional bottle at lunch when I am not around - in those cases I didn't pump as I was available to nurse him a couple of hours later. Tonight is different since he is bed for the night and usually wakes 0 - 1 times to nurse anyway.
