@Mrs. Bee: that would probably help her wean! since she's getting older she might get frustrated at the slow flow of milk (as opposed to the fast flow of her own cup!) and want the comfort nursing less. Sad, but imagine putting your pump and pump parts away for good...?!?!? Ahhh!!!

@Rubies: she nurses to feed and would comfort nurse if i let her. i guess if i let my milk dry up it will help wean her. i just don't want her to be walking around and asking for it. she pulls my shirt up right now as it is, but since she's still crawling she seems like a baby.

I would! It also might help with cutting out a few sessions on the weekends if your supple dips a little bit. I know I can now tell my 16 month old that its all gone right now and she understands because there really is no milk there in the middle of the day if she has already nursed in the morning.

I would say only if you are comfortable with it. Make sure you are ready, weigh the pros and cons!

Simple answer: If you want to! :)
I fully weaned LO at 14 months because I couldn't handle the stress of being back at work, getting her up and ready for daycare, etc. And it was fine! I stopped pumping ages before that.

During the weekends, does she nurse to feed (is she satiated afterwards?) or is she comfort nursing?

My friend's LO is almost 18 months and she's still nursing her 2x/day. Entirely up to you! :)

Olive turns 15 months old this week, and I'm still pumping once a day, which only produces like 4-5 ounces. It's not enough for her daytime intake, so we've been going through my freezer stash for a while. The stash will run out in about 2 weeks.

Olive sleeps through the night now, so the only times I'd nurse her would be in the morning and at night on weekdays. On weekends she still nurses 6x a day total and doesn't want to reduce!

I think I really have to start thinking about slowly weaning her because she is such a nursing addict. I guess it's just hard to quit pumping because I'm making milk.

Do you think I should quit pumping?
