I have had to use motilium to maintain my supply. It works, but you still have to "work" to help it out (in my case pumping after every nursing session (6 times per day) for ~20 minutes)/

@bunnylove08: if you don't want to pump could you try hand expressing? I haven't ever really pumped but I can hand express about three ounces in ten minutes so it could be a good middle ground :-) I also worked out where my "sweet spot" is for hand expressing so that I'm more efficient.

do not feel guilty for stopping, if it makes you less stressed (as they way, happy mama = happy baby).

that being said, i did read something once about someone (i can't find it) who used reglan and motilium to increase milk supply. i believe both of those medications worked.

@bunnylove08: Wow. Your doing pretty much everything I would try. Good on you! Yikes yeah I have not heard anything on the prescription meds. I would love to hear from someone how they worked for them.

@regberadaisy: no stash. we went through all of it. LO is 6 months old. she gets formula during the day with her babysitter.

@Rescuemom10: i put it at the highest setting and have smaller shields.

i feel super guilty if i stop pumping. i keep doing it because i hope one day my supply will increase.. more milk (i got the liquid kind), fenugreek, mother's milk tea and oatmeal.

has any one have any experience with prescription medicine?

p.s. if you are looking to try to increase your supply, you could pump right after your nursing sessions since your milk ducts have been "primed" by your LO sucking, and see if that makes a difference (that's what i did when LO was first born to establish my supply). but it's a pain, and you shouldn't overburden yourself.

oh that is so frustrating! if i were in your shoes i think i would quit--all that work for 2 oz is really hard to take. i'm not sure what will happen to your supply, as it probably depends from person to person. i'm assuming your baby is happy and healthy, and that will continue whether you give the 2 oz of breastmilk or use formula instead. could you weigh what's most important to you (i.e. are the benefits of not pumping worth your supply going down) and make a decision from there?

but bottom line is that it's totally okay not to pump.

I agree with what MamaMoose said. Granted I am only 2 mos into this. But I thought I wasnt going to get enough from pumping and really struggled with it at first. Took "tricking" plus herbal sups. toncrease supply and also having to turn my pump up higher.

Is your pump able to go to a higher setting? It hurt for me but eventually got use to pumping that "high".

I guess I would be afraid if I didnt pump some during the day if it would hurt my supply even more and then what would I have to provide for night and morning feedings.

I personally would not spend that much time pumping for that little output. But... there are ways to increase your supply if it's important to you. More Milk Plus has made a difference for me. But I think I remember that you are already partially supplementing with formula so if you are OK with doing more formula and just nursing morning and I night I think you should do it to take the stress and worry off yourself.

I think it depends. How old is LO? Do you have a stash? Are you OK with giving formula?

I feel for you - my supply is getting worse and worse. At most I was at 18 oz from 8 pumps, and now I'm at 10 oz from 6 pumps - and that's pumping for 40 minutes each time! It takes A LOT for me to keep doing it. I just think about how good it is for DD (only 10 weeks), and much extra guilt I would have if I quit.

2 oz though? That's rough... if it was me, and it got down that low, I would probably quit. :(

It's different for everyone, but I honestly believe it you let your body adjust it will. I never pumped much and I still nurse my LO mornings most days, some days we skip morning and just do before bed.

So I've been having a lot of issues pumping. Today I pumped an got only a couple of drops. I'm feeling fustreated an discouraged. I'm thinking I should stop pumping. I would pump for 30 mins 3xs a day and I only take home at most 2 oz of milk.

If i stop pumping during the day my supply will adjust and I can still nurse my DD in the morning and night?

What are your thoughts should I just stop?
