I would double check with your doc! Mine wanted me to take prescription prenatals for the first 20 weeks or so and they had a lot more DHA than the OTC ones I'm taking now. But I don't know what the actual level they recommend is.

Not sure about pregnancy, but I was told to take 1000mg of DHA daily for TTC.

Thanks y'all. I think I'm going to go ahead and take the extra supplement to get closer to that 300 mg/day level. I won't be surprised if I stop taking it regularly once nausea kicks in and I don't want to swallow a pill, but I figure if I can stomach 'em now, might as well take advantage of that!

I took Citranatal Assure (prescription) when I was pregnant and it had 300mg of DHA. I still take it now since I'm nursing.

http://citranatal.com/vitamins/citranatal-assure

I would ask your OB because I believe 200-300mg is what is recommended nowadays.

My prenantal has 200 mg. I think the recommendation for pregnancy is 300 mg per day. I have an additional supplement (I'm not sure of the dosage) but I don't take it every day - a few, maybe three times a week with dinner. I treat it as though I'm eating fish (which I don't eat.) I think as long as you are using a high quality supplement, extra is good. I'd ask your doctor - receptionists don't always know!

My OB told me DHA is very important. He recommended the Nature Made prenatal + DHA, so that's what I take. It has 200mg of DHA.

I took DHA in addition to my prenatal; but my OB and prenatal chiropractor had me take the extra DHA mainly to battle inflammation I was experiencing which was causing hip/pelvic pain. I took an extra 1000mg/day of DHA.

I am taking a prescription prenatal and my doctor told me to no longer take my fish oil since the prenatal had it in them.

My prenatal vitamin has 65 mg of omega-3 fatty acids (from fish oil), including 50 mg of DHA.
I felt like I should do something when I got the BFP so I went out and bought some additional DHA: 240 mg of Omega 3s including 200 mg of DHA.
But then the receptionist at the OB office said just to take the prenatals and not anything else.
Did y'all take extra DHA? I feel like they told me to take more omega-3 with my last pregnancy.
