I've always hated taking drugs, and prefer to find the cause of the problem instead of just treating the symptoms. Its a synthetic hormone that is going to mess with your body. I think you need to find another doctor... Some drs hand it out like candy, but I don't think it should be taken willy nilly. I would do some more reading and see what feels right for you. My dr wasn't willing to discuss any meds until we'd been trying for over a year &amp; other health issues were ruled out. They probably want your thyroid in check before you get pregnant and your long cycles may resolve themselves once your thyroid is regulated. If not, then i'd start the clomid. At my last appointment after having a blood test and an ultrasound, my doctor told me I do not have PCOS and that hypothyroidism is the cause of my lack of ovulation and period. He gave me 100mcg Synthroid and sent me on my way.</p> <p>Well it's been 6 weeks since then and I still do not have a period. While I stopped temping around CD65, I doubt I've O'd (just a hunch). I'm not completely convinced that hypothyroidism is my only problem.</p> <p>I had blood drawn yesterday to check my TSH, Free T3, Free T4 and antibodies, and I made an appointment with my doctor next week for the results. </p> <p>Let's suppose that my thyroid levels have normalized... I probably still want a second opinion from another doctor, but I was thinking of asking if he would induce my period and then put me on Clomid... would this be a logical next step? </p>
