@mrs. bird: For all I know, my thyroid is perfect now and I still do not have a period. If my thyroid is fine, what else should I do?

Have you been pregnant? How did you get your :bfp: in the end?

I think doing the progesterone to jumpstart your period is a good idea, but I wouldn't head to clomid so quickly. I've always hated taking drugs, and prefer to find the cause of the problem instead of just treating the symptoms. Its a synthetic hormone that is going to mess with your body. I think you need to find another doctor... Of course I'd recommend going to an ND (who found my fertility issues that my OB wasn't even trying to look for).

@pui: the multiples risk in addition to the risk of thinning out uterine lining & drying cm up, and the long half life leading to fetal exposure are why I felt strongly that clomid wasn't the med for me & DH. Some drs hand it out like candy, but I don't think it should be taken willy nilly. I would do some more reading and see what feels right for you. My dr wasn't willing to discuss any meds until we'd been trying for over a year & other health issues were ruled out. They probably want your thyroid in check before you get pregnant and your long cycles may resolve themselves once your thyroid is regulated. Waiting sucks, but maybe you won't even need any other meds.

@blackbird: Oh, is there a big risk of that? I haven't heard that before.

I'd do the progesterone to induce your period, then see if you ovulate first. If not, then i'd start the clomid. But if you do ovulate on your own, i'd be worried about the clomid's much higher chance of multiples!

@pui: It doesn't hurt to ask! A few cycles of clomid and provera could be just the trick!

Also, my drs said it was about thyroid issues, but that went away after I had DS, too. It's like my body was sleeping and not with it, lol.

That's what my next step was to get DS...and it worked!

I had issues of annovulation back in the day...since I've had him my cycles seem to have gotten a jump start and my fertility has done a complete 180.

So as many of you know by now I haven't had a period in months. At my last appointment after having a blood test and an ultrasound, my doctor told me I do not have PCOS and that hypothyroidism is the cause of my lack of ovulation and period. He gave me 100mcg Synthroid and sent me on my way.

Well it's been 6 weeks since then and I still do not have a period. While I stopped temping around CD65, I doubt I've O'd (just a hunch). I'm not completely convinced that hypothyroidism is my only problem.

I had blood drawn yesterday to check my TSH, Free T3, Free T4 and antibodies, and I made an appointment with my doctor next week for the results.

Let's suppose that my thyroid levels have normalized... I probably still want a second opinion from another doctor, but I was thinking of asking if he would induce my period and then put me on Clomid... would this be a logical next step?
