@knockedup_nowwhat: Babies usually stay in your room for the first 12ish weeks and then it seems like you and baby want your space. Maybe by then you wouldn't have as many guests as you did when LO was a newborn, so turn the 2nd room into the baby's space then?

PS If you're a current gold member you should reveal your identity there lol. ;p

I would have the baby in your room for now and when you are ready transform the other room into the babies. That way at the beginning when you have helpers there, they have their space to stay.

Couldn't you wait and decide later? Like, leave it as a guest room, since you will probably have the most visitors in the beginning and definitely have the baby in your room anyway, then after a few months, switch it over and lose the guest room. That's what I would do at least.

We are moving into a two bedroom and plan to leave a bed in the nursery for when our parents visit in the beginning, but the second room will ultimately be the baby's room.

@Knockedup_nowwhat

my mom was happy to sleep on the couch as long as she could come visit and if thats what she wanted then...so be it! we got an airbed also. it was a queen and we moved around living room furniture. totally do able!

we just bought a house and LO is nearly 6 months. a 2/2 at 1200 feet is too small for us. eek!

@matador84: Haha! I feel very important for people to wonder about my identity. :)

I'm almost positive that we will move out of this place when the baby is about 9 months, but I know that 9 months olds can be pretty active!

Hmm... I am very torn. I hate to give up that guest room. Where will my mom sleep when she comes to help us?

It was fine having him in our room when he was small, but I was ready to have the space back fairly soon. We moved him when he was 12 weeks. Once LO is on a more predictable schedule with an early bedtime, it would be more difficult to share a space.

My baby moved into her bedroom full time at 8 months, and I was more than ready. I needed to have my bedroom back as a private space for my husband and I. Before that, I didn't really see the point.

i am ready to find out who you are ;-)
we have a 2/2 it is about 1200 sq feet. our nursery is half office half nursery and it works just fine for us. i wanted him to have his own space and not be in our master and it has worked out great-he has been in crib from night one.

visitors and helpers have been more than great about getting their own place to stay if they have wanted to come visit!

I'm only 6 weeks along but I'm already thinking about how we'll fit a baby into our 2 bedroom condo. It's a good size - about 1250 sq ft - and our master bedroom is particularly spacious. We have a ton of bedroom furniture but we could easily rearrange to create a "nook" for the baby in our bedroom. I'm leaning towards this over transforming our guest bedroom. It's a lot smaller so we'd have to store all the bedroom furniture that's in there, and we wouldn't have any place for visitors/helpers to stay.

Still, I hear a lot about how babies' little noises and grunts in the night make it hard to get a good night sleep, and that as they get older, its hard to develop good self-soothing habits if they know you are right there. I guess if it's that bad we could roll the crib into the hallway and shut our door?

What do you all think?
