Without being asked, he washes diapers, bottles, and pump parts. He preps most of our dinners. He gives baths, changes diapers, you name it. He spends every day til 2 pm with DS, and they have so much fun together. He gets up every night to do motn feedings. He cuddles and plays with lo. He watches the baby so can nap even though he's the one who goes to work at 330 am. Ds loves him so much. He must be so upset seeing me go through all this but he never complains. He does what he can to help. </p> <p>He doesn't get enough credit as a support system! He's outside shoveling snow in nasty weather right now, poor thing. He takes care of R so well and loves her so much. He gets up during every night waking. He stayed up in the newborn stages to get R back to sleep after MOTN feedings. He makes me breakfast and lunch every weekday. Now if only he'd vacuum without being asked! I realised that some parts of the WOHM's letter equally applied to my DH..... but our society just doesn't give him the credit for it. The line that really struck me was the one that recognised the working mother for running a household alongside working - but, for me, I don't run the household, I share the running. In a world where the role of mother no longer looks like it used to, the role of father has also shape shifted. No longer does the father go out to work and then return home to his pipe and slippers! My DH comes home and plays with his daughter, gives his daughter a bath and puts her to bed. He folds laundry and cooks dinner and remembers that we need loo rolls when we go to the supermarket. Nobody writes him a letter....</p> <p>So here is a little shout out for my DH, a WOHD. A dad who works hard to provide for his family and then comes home and starts working again in the home. A dad who gives up his leisure time to spend time with his daughter and doesn't think twice about it. A dad who pushes the pushchair everywhere we go! A dad who changed the bedsheets last weekend because it needed doing - no nagging required because, well, it's his home too! An equal partner in parenting, in household maintenance and in earning the money we need. :heart: He doesn't always get it right (who does?) but he gives us his very best - no praise or recognition required. </p> <p>Do you want to give a shout out to your other half? </p>
