We have this one and mostly like it, although part of the step broke off. It still functions, but is harder for our little ones to open with the step piece missing. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Step-N-Sort-16-Gallon-2-Compartment-Stainless-Steel-Trash-and-Recycling-Bin/21474150?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222228015593538&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=40343919152&wl4=pla-78307249232&wl5=9007525&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla_with_promotion&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=21474150&wl13=&veh=sem

We have a similar Simple Human to the one that everyone else posted, it's just the smaller version...
https://www.kohls.com/product/prd-1578822/simplehuman-butterfly-106-gallon-step-recycler.jsp?prdPV=17
we have a container for compost waste in the cabinet under the sink so our trash can doesn't feel like it gets as full as quickly.
It is smaller than I would like, but we keep larger containers for recycling in the basement/garage so the recycling needs to be taken down every few days.
Kohl's does sell Simple Human, and if you have the card, the 30% off does apply to them.

We have this one from Simple Human - Deluxe Stainless Steel Fingerprint-Proof Rectangular 30-Liter Step-On Trash Can. We got it 6 years ago and still really like it! If we have recyclables we usually take them out to the bin in the garage or put them aside on the counter and take them out at the end of day.

Have the same one as @pwnstar: and we love it.
Unfortunately for recycling we just put things in plastic shopping bags till full and then take them out. We don't have room for another recycling bin.

@pwnstar: @Mamaof2: @Pancakes: love your bins! I wanted to get Simple Human, but DH didn't want to spend the money. They look so well made!

We have a round one from Target, but I forget the name of their homeline brand. If I had to do it all over again I would get a bin with a really wide opening like the Simple Human ones because it's less messy for throwing away things like meat containers. We keep the (empty) bin in the garage at this point and run our kitchen trash to the large curbside garbage bins instead since the garage is just off the kitchen.

We've had this simple human one for a little over a year and I really like it. The trash side is a bit smaller than 13-gallon but I don't think it's too small. We take out the trash probably every 3 days or so? I really like having the recycling too, although that needs to be emptied more frequently in our house or we end up with a pile or separate bag outside the garage door. I like it because it's heavy and our dog can't get into it, and it's easy to clean.

We have a Simple Human 38 litre/10 gallon rectangle garbage can. It's awesome and we love it! Simple Human also has a dual compartment option as well (I think it's 45ish litres?). Here are pics of both:

Currently we have black plastic step trash can in our kitchen but our new kitchen will be more open into the living room so I really want to find a nicer trash can and a nice recycle bin too. Most of the ones I have seen that combine both recycle and garbage are super tiny though. I am looking for a good size 13gallon trash that is practical but also nice. If you are happy with yours can you please share a picture or link.
