With my previous babies I have used a Bebe au Lait as well, and I really liked it. I lost it though :( so for this one I have Dria cover waiting for me, and I think I'm going to look into a nursing scarf.

Nursing with a cover takes practice, but it is the only way I like nursing in public. So, even though they do get hot and it takes practice, I don't think I could nurse without one :)

Plus we are having January babies, the warmth might be nice!

I have one like @oliviaoblivia: posted by Bebe au lait that I used with DS. We hated it! It was terribly hot for him and awkward. I mostly went without it and we either managed covering with whatever clothing I was wearing or using an A&A blanket.

For this baby I am making an infinity type scarf one. They look amazing and so simple to DIY. I got some light-to-medium weight cotton jersey so it's breathable for us both.

Similar to @Mrs. Twine: - Almost always wore a nursing tank. In the summer, I was all about button-downs that exposed very little too.

Have a Bebe Au Lait and a Dria cover, and always pack one of them. But honestly, DD hates being covered, so if I am in a lounge or discreet area, I don't usually use the cover. The Dria has been great for traveling though! It's a lifesaver on the plane!

I have a Balboa Baby cover- it's nice and light and well structured, but I only used it twice and I think it's still somewhere in the car. I hate carrying much in my diaper bag, so it was the first thing to go. Since I always had an A&A blanket on me, I just bunched it up to cover the goods.

This is something I'd recommend buying cheap at a second hand store to see if you and babies even like it.

I registered for a pretty nursing cover but I never used it. It was just too warm. I ended us using a very lightweight one from a friend. It was hideous like a circus tent but it got the job done. A few months in I gave up on covers altogether.

I have a couple of nursing covers---from Eddie Bauer and another brand. I also have a nursing scarf. I don't really like the scarf that much. It doesn't look good when I'm trying to wear it normally. I also feel like the cover just fits over me and my 1 baby. Right now she doesn't really like the covers so I'm now trying to get her used to them so we can nurse around others with it.

@LittleFox: ooh I like that second one. I have a plane ride coming up and having her nurse, then sleep, under that sound nice! I don't have a sewing machine but maybe my mom could do it...

I have a Bebe au Lait nursing cover that I liked early on. I also sewed myself a similar one based on the tutorial from the Prudent Baby blog ( http://prudentbaby.com/2010/01/baby-kid/diy-nursing-cover-2/). It was pretty easy, as I am a very novice sewer. Those were nice early on, and I liked the boning in the neckline so I could see to latch him. I have rarely used them beyond 4 months or so, though I still do from time to time.

Now if I use a cover I reach for another one I made based on this tutorial: http://www.thecoterieblog.com/2012/05/diy-modern-nursing-shawl-sew-one-line.html

It's for a nursing shawl, and it's more comfortable, offers more coverage, and is less in your face about being a cover. It also required me to sew a single line of fabric, so it was an easy beginning sewer project. More often than not, though, I just use the two shirts method. I wear a camisole or nursing tank under my shirt, the shirt goes up and the cami goes down. The shirt covers his head, the cami covers my belly, and we don't need to bring anything extra. :)

Oh and I can't imagine trying to cover up twins- that sounds impossible. I say if you are trying to nurse two babies in public, you should get a medal, not have to cover up :)

I have one similar to the one above and have used it a handful if times. It felt too hot in the summer. I usually will use an A&A blanket and just tuck a corner into my bra or tank strap on my shoulder. Or now that it's cooler I'm ok with layering a sweater over a nursing tank and just pulling the sweater up- I prefer having the top of my boobs covered as well as my belly.

I had one like the photo above and used it a ton in public, but I felt like I was wearing an apron the whole time. I have my eye set on a dria cover the next time around.

I always liked to wear a nursing tank under my shirts in the early days. But I was way more concerned about people seeing my stomach than my breasts. ;) I have weird priorities. My girls never tolerated a cover. Could you maybe borrow from someone, or get one from a friend who is done with theirs rather than buying new? Just in cases you decide to not use it?

I can't make up my mind on what type of cover I want. I'm leaning towards a nursing scarf. I love the idea of being able to wear it out & not worry about it looking tacky if I have to nurse in public. Also need something that will cover my plus sized body & two babies....

Show me your covers, tell me what you love/hate about them, where you got it, & if you think it might work for me :-)
