But we are transitioning my youngest to a bed so I got a bunk bed and completely reorganized their room. All toys now reside in there! </p> <p>The 12 cubby storage shelf contains all the legos and k-nex, I’m still in the process of sorting. I also used binders and page protectors to store all the instructions. Like toys are grouped together and can be taken out and put back easily before moving on to another toy. ETA: there’s a floor bin not pictured.</p> <p>For now I’m keeping LO’s purged toys in a box in the garage and if he asks for something specific I can bring it back in. That means I'm pretty strict about how many toys are in circulation at a time and I try to keep storage looking pretty. We have one of the Ikea 4 cube thingies by our door and two of the bins are for hats/gloves/grocery bags and two are for her toys. There are also a few other bins/baskets tucked around the living room with more toys, but they look like regular living room decorations. Up in her room she has a built in shelf thingy, a small three drawer storage thing for her doll clothes, and a big bin for stuffed animals. </p> <p>The biggest thing for us is that every toy has a home where it fits easily and she can get it out herself. It holds a ton but isn’t the best for organizing the smaller toys as the kids get older, so I’m looking into different baskets or boxes to help with that. Art stuff is all separate because I can’t trust my kids upstairs alone in the playroom with art supplies! Those are in the kitchen at a kiddie table in the corner. But it's nice that almost everything can live in it even if she plays throughout the house. The main storage in the playroom is a 3x3 cube shelf. The bottom row has large plastic containers, the middle row has smaller boxes with lids (2 per cube), and the top row has miscellaneous things. We have board games and art supplies that need supervision on the top. When she was younger there were laminated pictures on the front of the various containers to make it easier for her to find things and pick up. </p> <p>She also has a play kitchen in there and it holds all of the play food, kitchen sets, and tea set. A small plastic container for indoor balls and trucks and a large canvas tote for stuffed animals and dress up clothes. </p> <p>Her books are stored in the living room, her room, and a bookshelf in our hallway. In general I like it. Pro/con of the system - she can't reach everything herself.
