@Mrs. Sketchbook: I'm no food photographer, but the color is bright blue. The one thing I'd note is that I accidentally left mine in the cabbage dye a bit longer than Sarah's instructions said to (I think it was closer to 24 hours!), and some of the color seeped into at least one of the eggs. We haven't cracked the others yet, so we'll see!

@Mrs. Sketchbook: Haha, thanks!! My ILs were giving me crazy looks (because I kept rearranging the eggs after the kids put them in), but it did look much prettier this way :)

@autumnlove: @looch: I did the wooden eggs last year - L loves them!! I painted on the dye instead of dunking like @Mrs. Sketchbook: and they've never left her mouth or hands stained. I sealed them afterwards with a combo of beeswax and olive oil. That was the most annoying part (buying and melting the beeswax), but I want to do a lot more wooden toys, so now I have the mixture ready to go!

@looch: I should have clarified! They leaked! At the time he was still gumming stuff and when I gave them to him, I looked around and he had a blue mouth. At like seven months lol! So I rubbed them with vinegar to get the excess dye out.

@looch: I did wooden eggs last year. Actually someone did a blog post about them on HB, mine turned out about the same. But I would use her directions because I dunked mine and they soaked up far too much color. I looked for paper mâché eggs this year at the craft store but no luck! I think PB has some but they are already done. But I'm sure they are available in plain form all over the internet. This Easter was sorta thrown together for me so if I couldn't find it locally in a five minute trip it didn't happen for us!

I didn't get an after pic because it was really late by the time we were done, but here's a during! We put her to bed after the first 18, we had her Brother's birthday party earlier that day so we were exhausted as was she. We used McCormick food coloring in regular and neon, it's cheaper and I love the way the color pops!

I did Sarah Crowder's cabbage dye for some and then some with food coloring. No pics, because they're in the fridge and I'm too sick to move, but our cabbage eggs look like Sarah's, just a bit blotchier, because I put them all in the same jar. The food coloring ones are bright pink (not enough red left in the bottle!) and turquoise green. My son has been begging to eat them, so mission accomplished! I hope they taste okay--I forgot where I put my white vinegar, so I used the Chardonnay vinegar I found first. They're boozy eggs, I guess.

I love your egg tree!

We tried the Pinterest Kool Aid suggestion, it worked great- washed right out of everything, and did a good job on the eggs. The wild card was how C would take to it and he was into it once we asked his colors. I'll have to post photos later, I'm super worn out tonight.

@katsupgirl: thanks! ours was the "tie-dye" kit! I guess you could do it with any kit. Tab plus three tablespoons of vinegar so it was very vibrant. The kit came with droppers but we didn't have enough so I used a leftover infant Tylenol dispenser. I bought one too many kits so I think a random egg dyeing session may be in the future also! This is the first time I've dyed eggs in ages. Which is sad because it was a lot more fun than I remembered!

@Mrs. Jacks: I don't believe it! Did they mix up all the dye to make brown sludge? That is what we did as kids lol!
