We played dont forget daddy. My friend asked the future daddy questions about baby like:

1. What was the first thing he said when he was told the pregnancy test was a postive
2. What sex was he hoping for
3. When daddy saw the ultrasound what did he say
4. How did Daddy tell his family the sex of the baby
5. Daddy said he hopes the baby has his
6. Daddy hopes the baby has mommy's
7. how many pregnancy tests daddy bought before he accepted the final one
8. Daddy says that now the baby is near, he worries most about

it was multiple choice so it was easier for guests to guess the answer. it was a huge hit with our group and we got a lot of good giggles

I despise games. At my shower we had a "guess the due date" calendar/board and people wrote in the date/time they thought I'd have the baby--the winner got a gift card. Obviously you don't find out the winner until the baby is born, but whatever. We also did a "guess how many X are in the jar" game--I ended up just ordering a giant bag of pink candies and counted 'em out and then we just had people...guess how many. Again, winner got a gift card.

I loved it because no one was forced to participate, and it wasn't awkward!

@Shutterbug: DH called/emailed people ahead of time and asked them for a baby pic and a current pic. It was actually the only game we got around to playing, because it was so miserable and hot that day! It was actually a pretty big hit, except that my dad and DH's kind of cheated by combining forces, lol. They were the ones that scanned/emailed the majority of the pics to us, haha.

@MrsCB: ooh I love the baby picture matching game! Did the invites say to bring a baby picture? How did you get them all ahead of time?

@looch: I saw that game too...I wanted to swap it for a name that smell (like smell the contents of a brown paper bag and guess what it is).

@shopaholic: Our crowd is mostly moms or grandma's...so I think they have the skills! :) Glad the decorate one was a hit!!!

@MrsCB: Ya - I worry about timing too which is why I was trying to do ones that were "quick" and could be done throughout not like everyone stop and focus on this game.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: The diaper one is so they have diapers with sweet well wishes on them - I said the labels rather than writing right on the diapers to not risk damaging them. Its a cute way to leave them a message and give them some diapers. Love that wishes for baby idea...I think we'll add those to the tables for during the luncheon!!!

Love those ideas :)

Another easy thing to do is a diaper raffle. Have everyone bring diapers and you get a ticket for every certain amount of diapers you bring, then you have a drawing. I've been to a shower where they did this and they gave out 3 gift certificates, I won a starbucks one :) Plus the mom gets tons of diapers.

I like 1 and 2, but I don't get 3 at all.

Crowd "games" Wishes for Baby,

I am obsessed with baby animals...1) Animal gestation period matching, 2) Animal baby names matching

Baby shower mad lib.

At my shower we had a bunch of games planned, but didn't actually get to most of them. But they were all planned with keeping in mind that I didn't want to be the center of attention for the games either.

1)Baby picture match game - print out baby and adult pics of shower attendees (ahead of time) and ask people to match them up

2)Diaper pin game - Give each guest a diaper pin when they arrive. As they talk to other guests they can steal someone else's pin for saying the word "baby". Person with the most pins wins.

3)Memory game - put a bunch of baby stuff on a tray and walk it around, asking everyone to remember as many as they can. Person who can write down the most correct items later wins.

Subbing since I'm hosting my sister's shower the same day!

I like all your ideas. The Price Is Right game is fun if you have a lot of parents already. But if your crowd doesn't have many kids of their own, it doesn't seem to be as fun (from my experience).

I'm going to borrow your diaper love game idea!

We did the decorate onesies and hair accessories station at my shower and it was a big hit!

At my SILs shower, they did the one where you pass around items in brown bags and you have to guess what the contents are.

They had 5 items and I can only recall the baby food jar and the pacifier. Maybe a washcloth?

Ok - so my dear sister is due with her first baby on Christmas!!! My mom, sister and I are hosting her shower on October 12th. I am kind of supposed to spearhead the shower planning - but am due any day now - so I am trying to get as much done/planned in advance of our own special arrival.

My sister is not one to love being the center of attention - so I am steering clear of the "guess how big the bump is" type games and what not. We'll have a decent amount of time committed for the seated luncheon and gift opening - so we dont need too much. I was thinking just some mingling type activities for when guests first arrive. Here is what I have come up with:

1)Create your own stations: Buy an assortment of plain headbands, bibs, burp clothes (aka cloth diapers) and encourage guests to 'decorate' them for the mom to be. I thought I could get a lot or two of misc ribbon off etsy along with some appliques, cute bows, embellishments. Guests can affix them with safety pins - then I can have our grandma sew/hot glue gun them in place after the shower. (note: we are not doing onsies here because we have plans to decorate with cutesied up onsies). I think we'll also have them sign a tag so she'll know who made each.

2) Baby Shower Price is Right: Have a few clusters of common baby toiletries (relating to: 1) diaper changing 2) bathing 3) diaper bag essentials) and requests guests to guess the price of the cluster. Closest one wins a small gift.

3) Diaper Love Notes: Have each guest write a message on a solid white label which is then affixed to a diaper tushy. This way as my sister and BIL change diapers they can have some mixed in with cute messages on them.

I liked these ideas because 1) they are fun and low stress 2) they leave you with awesome practical gifts for the mom-to-be and 3) they are relative quick as the materials will all be prepped!

Thoughts/Opinions?

Have you 'played' these at a shower? How were they received?
