Satin pillowcases for the win. If you go to bed with clean, dry hair, a satin pillowcase will keep it smooth and free of kinks, unlike a cotton one

I have fine medium-short hair. If I shower at night and let it air dry (it’s so fine that it’s nearly always dry before I go to bed anyway) I use this heated brush to just straighten and smooth it in the morning. Since I really don’t have that much hair, the cheap mini version works for me, although there is a full size version that I’m sure is better for thicker or longer hair.

But I remember those post partum night sweats. Not the best for feeling refreshed in the morning.

I tried diligently to do night showers... now I just do an early morning shower. I feel grubby and my hair feels grimy no matter what combo of dry shampoo, blow dryer, etc. that I try. It would make my life easier, though, that's for sure. I've gotten good at going fast.

I had to switch to nighttime showering out of necessity after child #2 was born. I use Bumble & Bumble All Style and, upon my stylist's advice, really make sure that my hair is **completely and utterly** dry before I turn off the hair dryer (I used to get it "mostly" dry). For me, that's made all the difference. My hair no longer kinks at night, so I just brush, style & go in the morning. Truth be told, though, my style is often a bun, so that takes care of a lot of hair issues... Oh, and I definitely don't wash my hair every night anymore. Now, I loathe hair washing nights and know why women used to say "I can't....I have to wash my hair."

I’ve always showered at night. I only wash my hair 2-3 times per week, and dry before bed. I sleep with it in a high bun. In the mornings I brush it, apply a shine serum to the bottom half, do a once over with the blow dryer, and then style it with a large curling iron.

On nights I’m not washing my hair I apply dry shampoo before bed so it has overnight to kind of sink in and that helps it not look white on my dark hair.

Anyway, for hair, what would happen if you went to bed with it up/wet? That is what I do and it's dry in the morning and wavy from my bun! Voila. Zero effort haha.

I go back and forth on when I shower depending on the kids. I am currently trying to shower in the morning so I can workout in the morning (only time I can get it in).

At night if I shower, I french braid my hair before bed, have you ever tried that? I have relatively straight, thick, thick hair, it is still wet when I wake up in the morning. Maybe see if that works to allow you to then style it in the morning?

I've always showered at night because I'm a not a morning person and if I leave my shower to the morning I know I'll just sleep in and end up using dry shampoo.

I have wavy-curly hair so I shower/blowdry my hair at night and then style it when I wake up in the morning. I don't have a problem with not feeling fresh when showering at night but that's probably just because I never shower in the morning. I'd suggest just throwing on some deodorant at night if needed.

Totally can relate. My son wakes up if I flush. His room backs up to the master bath. I have resorted to using the guest bathroom down the hall. Is that an option for you- using a different bathroom?

I just try to stay up after I shower to give my hair some time to dry. I don't wash it every day (because it goes crazy). And if I feel gross in the morning, I just hop in for a five minute splash - no time for a real shower.

I just use the sink to kind of re-wet my hair in the morning. I have wavy hair that turns into a crazy mess overnight so I just have to restyle in the mornings. I divide my hair into 2-3 sections and splash some water so they’re like 60% wet. If the sink is just as loud as the shower pipes, maybe go into the kitchen? Idk. I went through a whole phase of not flushing at night because the pipes would wake up my kid. She eventually outgrew it though, thank god!

I do wash my face in the morning too because it feels greasy in the morning.

If I shower at night and wash my hair, I found that if I blow it completely dry with no product, the next morning I can wet it using an areosol style bottle, mist in product and either blow dry again or use a flat iron.

I only love TIGI Rockaholic... it's expensive but that's the only way I like my hair the next day. Spray and brush. I use that also when on vacation.

I've been struggling with this every since having DD2 and going back to work a year ago. I finally realized if I shower right before bed and braid my hair, it stays wet enough that I can actually finish drying it in the morning. Not sure if this would wake your DD up? At least you can move the hair dryer to another location

My hair is finicky, so it still doesn't look great, but better than before!

I also only shower every other day - takes a week or two to get your body/hair to stop producing as many oils, but it's worth it!

@Madison43: When I was pregnant, I showered at night because it helped my restless legs. So i'm sure I could get used to it again. My stumbling block is my hair - I style it wet, and that means putting it up/back in braids or a ponytail because I workout at lunch. If my hair isn't 'done' then it doesn't stay in while exercising and looks crappy after the gym.

@snowjewelz: She already does. I think the problem is multi-faceted, My husband just started a new job, so there was a huge routine change for all of us. Part of this is that he leaves at 6:15am - and so I am getting up an hour earlier than before so that I could be all ready when DD woke up (6;30-7ish).
But now our coffee maker (a grinder) was going off at 6am, I was showering at 5:30 and those pipes go right through her wall, and my husband is up making noise. I think that she normally was waking up at that time, but going back to sleep. But the active energy in the house is not letting her go back down.

The week before my husband started the new job, she slept in every day till 7:15. Then new job/new schedule, up at 5:30am.

Does she sleep with any type of white noise? If you don't want to change your routine and the shower is def what's waking her up, maybe you can try playing white noise when she's sleeping to drown it out?

I just don't really style my hair, besides to run a brush through it. It doesn't look great but you can't win at everything :meh: I did try to get a low maintenance cut. I do put on some makeup in the morning...

If I get sweaty overnight I do a quick rinse off in the shower. But in our case, the problem is not the shower waking up LO but time crunch, I'm sure a sponge bath would serve a similar purpose.

@jennlin821: With DD I went through a phase of doing a late night shower so I could skip a morning shower. Honestly nothing ever replaces the feeling of showing first thing in the morning but I would put on anti-pespirant before going to bed and that helped. I also had a spray bottle with water that I used on my hair.

Those of you who shower at night, what do you do to refresh yourself in the morning?

All of a sudden, the shower is waking my DD up in the morning. So I'm trying to shower at night.

However, I always style my hair when its wet - so that's a pain so re-wet my hair every morning. But I think my biggest problem is, that after having a baby, I sweat a lot at night, so I feel like I wake up stinky and gross. So do you take a sponge bath in the morning?

Plus showering wakes me up. So not showering is totaling messing up my morning flow !!

Help a mama out... I just want my little one to sleep for another 2 hours in the morning!
