@LCTBQE: awesome, glad you got an appointment! i always have a hard time remembering to stay hydrated but hope that helps.
ugh yeah the food poisoning definitely sucked, but it was only about a 12 hr bug. i called my doctor first thing in the morning (around hour 8) and she was so unconcerned that it made me feel better, especially since i really stopped throwing up after half a day. i also moved up my next appointment, so went in for a check about 2 days after i felt better and heard the heartbeat, etc., so it was all fine, but yeah, not very fun!

actually i was about to post on hellobee to get reassurance when i was feeling sick, but then searched the archives and found a bunch of people who had had food poisoning while pregnant so that made me feel a lot better

@LCTBQE: I was a lot smaller with this second pregnancy than with my first .... until suddenly I wasn't!! Somewhere around 28 weeks I popped and now I feel like a whale. :silly: Do drink lots of water. I measured small throughout my first pregnancy and had low amniotic fluid. I'm sure its because i wasn't drinking enough water. I'm drinking tons this time around and measuring right on track. Get yourself to the OB stat, though. No need to go one week over due. Good luck!

@turquoisemama: @cyndistar3: @ElbieKay: @Pollywog: @periwinklebee: @nwm: @Silva: sorry I was offline for the last day, but thanks so much for reassuring me, ladies :) it didn't occur to me (duh) that bloat and hydration were big factors, probably just because I didn't think I'd changed any behavior significantly--except when you posted @nwm I gave it real thought and realized I hadn't been drinking nearly enough water. I think what's disconcerting to me is that I'm used to the morning/evening wild shift in size, but that's not it this time, and @silva yeah I expected to be bigger the second pregnancy, not smaller, and definitely not smaller than I was 3 weeks ago. mercifully no comments from the peanut gallery except the occasional office "you're so tiny!" (which, I work in fashion, this is meant as a compliment). Realized I'm a week or so overdue for an OB appointment, so I called today and going in tomorrow--I think just confirming that everything is okay is all I need. and I remember from last time thinking that the time between the NT and the anatomy/first quickening was kind of eerily quiet, so maybe I should just enjoy it.

@nwm: how did you get food poisoning? that's awful. was it scary or did you keep your wits about you?

@Silva: seriously? 20 like twenty?! has your daughter noticed yet? also how are the symptoms treating you? I've been thinking of you.

@periwinklebee: ugh hahaha, it seems like the worst comment stories are always from older women. I think the sorority-sister commenting and belly-touching and stuff is just an outdated cultural thing they never got current on. like racist grandparents.

With my second (and third) pregnancies bloating made a WAY bigger difference in how my belly looked. My non-research/evidence based theory is that its because my muscles and skin are already "pre-stretched" and ready to go. Maybe some of the bloating/constipation from the first trimester is easing up a little? I am 7.5 weeks now and literally look 20 weeks pregnant- but that rate of growth won't continue, so at some point it has to level off.

i noticed that how hydrated i was made a big difference to my belly size. i got food poisoning for 24 hours around 16 weeks and was really frightened by how noticeably my belly shrank, but i just chugged water for the next two days and it puffed back up.

At that point my belly was all over the place, depending on the day. I could look really pregnant one day and next day nada, wearing practically the same thing.

And the comments  I was literally making an appointment for a growth scan because I was measuring small when an older woman in the waiting room came up, asked how far along I was, and said "oh goodness, it must be a really big baby."

Yep, it happens as the baby changes positions. It drives me nuts because my work clothes will be perfectly appropriate when I leave for work and then he sticks his butt out and I need to immediately find leggings.

I will be 18w tomorrow with twins. I swear this week I look twice as pregnant in the evening than in the morning. I think it's just bloat but it is weirding me out.

Mine varries a lot too, some days I'm more bloated, his position changes the way my belly looks, there's different reasons why it could look smaller now :)

@LCTBQE: I know my belly looked way different at different times of the day or on different days. If you OB or midwife is measuring you and everything looks good I wouldn’t worry at all. People love to comment on pregnant women’s bellies, whether they think it’s too big or too small or whatever. Whenever someone says I look so big, it drives me crazy but I remind myself that my measurements are what they should be so I try not to let it get to me too much.

My belly is significantly, noticeably to others, smaller than it was this time a week ago when I was 15w. I googled it and it seems to be a thing? But really all I found posted was anecdotal stuff from the lunatics on babycenter. I had a great NT scan at 12 weeks, so no particular reason to think anything is wrong, but it's weird and making me nervous. Anyone else experience this?
