My mom is one of four kids and 3 of the 4 have the exact same birthday. I'm one of four and my 3 siblings have birthdays within the first 3.5 weeks of the same month (& my parents are each on either side of them by 1-2 weeks). If anything, I felt like the weirdo having a birthday in a different month/season! So no, I wouldn't go out of my way to avoid close birthdays.

Nope, don't care!

My two are 12/4 and 12/20 and sandwiched between Thanksgiving and Christmas

My sister and I have birthdays 2 days apart as well. Wouldn't change a thing!

I wouldn't worry about it!
My brother was born 2 years and 4 days after me. Until we were about 10/8 we had a joint birthday party. Our bdays are at the very end of august, so it was always like a big end of summer party. It never really bothered us to have a combined party, and we shared all the same neighborhood friends. Once we got older (I think I was in 5th grade or so) we started having separate parties, specifically sleepovers with 2-3 kids. We each just chose a weekend in august, and had it then.

My brother and I are not close, and haven't been since high school, but I sometimes still feel strange celebrating my birthday without him!

My kids b days are 3 weeks apart, and I've still done at least 2 combined Bday parties with friends. Then we do a small our-little-family-only cake and dinner or activity on their actual birthday and the girls seem thrilled with that arrangement.

My kids all have close birthdays - oldest is Nov 30 and the twins are Dec 30. We do something special on each of their birthdays and have had all combinations of friend parties - no party, split parties, combined parties. Our harder element is that it's around the holidays so there's so much going on that time of year.

My kids seem to have lower expectations, and if I make a huge deal of their actual day (birthday balloons on breakfast chair, they get to pick menu for the day, small cakes or treat of choice with candles, family presents) everyone seems happy.

I’m 5 days before my brother and my older two are 11 days apart and it just makes for fun party week!

@cat620: I'm at cycle 34 TTC. My DD was born in May and, if by a miracle, we conceive this month baby #3 will also be a "May-bae." After such a long journey TTC, I would welcome it. I have 2 aunts born 1 year and 3 days apart. Everyone in my immediate family was born on a holiday (it is so weird) so sharing birthdays with people or events is NBD. I believe, the key is to differentiate each child's interests and birthday festivities (even if you can't specifically have 2 separate parties for whatever reason) by focusing on giving each child attention, affection, and your best attempt at equality. Big sibling may want a superhero theme and LO wants unicorns ... you can either combine into a fantasy world or costume party with both or do two separate celebrations for each child but keep in mind that both BS and LO still needs to feel like he or she is the guest of honor. Other than parties, it shouldn't be an issue. 😁

I would go for it this month! We are TTC #3 and my due date would be like 12 days before my son. My daughter’s birthday is 3 weeks after my son. I don’t think it’s a big deal!

Like others have said, I would just go for it. Our LOs were supposed to be only 10 days apart, and the younger one ended up coming 3 weeks early, so their birthdays are 1 month apart (and my bday is 10 days before my younger LO).

It took us over a year for our second so by then we didn't care, although originally we wanted them to be in different seasons..for us not them really. They have birthdays three weeks apart but since we aren't big birthday people and I think starting this year we will be alternating who gets a bigger celebration/party I don't think it's a big deal. We'd alternate even if the birthdays were further apart probably because now we have three and it's just a lot. They like each other... so I'm glad we didn't skip a month. That said, I ended up getting pregnant with #3 on the first month thinking it would take a few, so you have to be prepared for that too!

@cat620: I’m pregnant with our second daughter right now. Their birthdays will be about a week a part, I’m actually looking for to this.
The plan is to do joint bday parties (which will be small, and not too extravagant... with the exception of our second daughters first birthday, that will be just for her). And as their gifts we’re going to do ‘experience’ gifts, also a nice excuse to have little getaways.
Good luck TTC!

My husband has a huge family. Three nephews and SIL have their birthday in a 2 day stretch. All have separate parties and family picks and chooses. Grandparents do make the rounds to celebrate with everyone. Three sibling sets are a week or two apart. Always separate parties on separate weekends. People try and make it.

I say go for it. Even if you're pregnant, you could come early or late and it would be a non issue.

My girl’s birthdays are 3 days apart. They each get their own “friend” party, and we do something special for each girl on their actual birthday with our nuclear family and then they have a joint party with extended family (grandparents, cousins, etc...). It’s kind of a cluster f actually - not because either feel slighted, but because there are SO many parties.

It’s definitely not ideal but it’s not terrible. It also wasn’t planned - my little one came 2 months early!

My kids are 2 years minus 5 days apart (7 and 5 now). The little one came two months early so it wasn't my intention ;) you never know how things will shake out, I wouldn't skip this month!

We still do joint parties but also do individual things on their actual birthdays. Maybe as they get older we'll split them up but one one has complained yet :)

@RonjaL7: I would like for each child to have their own party to make them feel special so another concern would be inviting family members to two parties so close together. Does your family seem to mind attending separate parties for your sister's kids?

My sister's kids birthdays are only a few days apart. They are 7 and 4. When they were young they did joint parties but now they do seperate. It is a bit more stressful for her to do two parties close together but she tends to reserve a place for the older one that takes care of everything and cleanup.

Agree with pp, you never know when you will get pregnant so just go for it. I was due with my third on my second child’s birthday but had him 12 days after my due date. I’m not sure how they will feel about a close birthday but we have no regrets!

I wouldn't skip any months. You never know when it's going to happen like what Mama Bear said (I'm in my 18th cycle trying for #2 and my son was a one hit wonder kind of).

But as to the siblings having close birthdays:

My niece's have birthdays within a week of each other, and this is probably the last year the older one will think it's cool to share a party with her sister (she turns 10 this year). But it's not really a problem, they'll just have to figure out separate parties I guess, the biggest problem it's actually that their birthdays are the week after Christmas.

My best friend growing up's little sister's birthday was a week and a half after her's and they always had parties together by choice. They loved having close birthdays.

I say go for it!

Just my 2 cents but it took us 9 months to get pregnant with our second. We didn't skip any months and I'm glad we didn't, if we had skipped a month I would have always worried if that would have been the good egg that got us our second

My husband and I are trying for a third. If I were to get pregnant this month, my baby would be born around June 15th, and my oldest son's birthday is June 18th. Would you skip this month so their birthdays aren't so close together? If any of you have a birthday close to a sibling, did it bother you growing up?
