My 3mo old had it and would cough so hard he vomited feeds. It was awful. My pediatrician said that it peaks at 5/6 days but then slowly improves though the cough can linger for 2-3 weeks. She was dead on. Sorry :(

@Pumpkin Pie: Yeah, 7 weeks :( If you would have told me in the first week that it would have gone on for that long, I might have lost my marbles... HOWEVER, my pedi said that a case going on longer than 4 weeks was unusual, 6 weeks was basically unheard of. Lucky us!

I would call your pedi after hours line to see if you should wake her to eat. I never wake my babes, but I've never had a situation where I've worried about dehydration. Definitely err on the side of caution there.

She hadn't been sleeping much the past couple days, I'm guessing because of discomfort, and body aches, but today she has been sleeping quite a bit. Do I just let her sleep, or should I wake her to try to feed her? I just dont know what to do.

@Pumpkin Pie: 2-3 weeks was the average time my pediatrician told us. And it went on for a bit longer than that :bummed:

@Pumpkin Pie: my LO#2 who is 20 months old now also had it from 2 months old (caught it on a plane during a super cold winter!) until he was about 6-7 months old. that said, the worst was over after around 2 months. he didn't vomit though, just hard coughing, choking noises, LOTS of wheezing. the wheezing was what kept up until summer arrived. after the initial 2 months though he didn't seem bothered by the wheezing.

vomiting sucks so much!! hope your LO gets better MUCH faster! xo

ETA: he was also eating and gaining normally, so doctors said just wait it out.

@autumnlove: did your LO hardly eat also? She's now eating 1 oz at a time.

@keepcalmcarrie: 7 weeks?!? I thought it was supposed to be only be about 1 week?

My LO just got over bronchiolitis - it's awful, I'm so sorry she's going through this :( He had it for 7 verrrrry long weeks. He's only 4 months (caught it at 3 months) so there wasn't much we could do except nebulizer, sleeping at an incline, humidifier, and lots of cuddles. We did try pedialyte a few times at our pedis suggestion because he was getting extra congested with bottles, so that could help with dehydration too if she's vomiting a lot. The nebulizer did help with the rattling in his lungs and seemed to calm his coughing, which could maybe be triggering her vomiting... maybe the nebulizer will do the trick.

It's a miserable illness. I hope she recovers soon!

No advice, I haven't had to deal with that... just wanted to say hang in there, Mama! Don't be shy about going back to urgent care if you are worried about the vomiting.

I would call her doctor back. My 7 month old has been through this twice already and while there isn't much you can do but wait it out, how little she's eating seems concerning with the vomiting. I know my pediatrician said he may need some Pedialyte or something if we had that problem - we didn't, but I definitely think it's worth asking about.

Ya, sounds about the same when my LOs had bronchiolitis! Hugs, we went to the Dr a couple times but sleep and time were the best meds.

My 8 month old has been diagnosed with bronchiolitis, and it has been terrible. She has had a high fever, vomiting, no eating, moaning for the past couple days. I've already taken her to urgent care, and her regular doctor, and it seems like maybe there isnt much we can do other than wait it out, and give her the inhaler, suction her nose, etc. Her fever appears to have gone down for now, but she keep vomiting whatever she eats. Is this normal? Does anyone have advice for what else we should be doing? She is only taking in about 6-8 oz of formula a day for the past 2 days.
