no fun!! I got a bad cold when LO was about 4 weeks old. I pumped a few times, and DH took him from 8pm-3am so I could sleep - it felt amazing sleeping 7 hours straight. It was just what my body needed too. I was better the next day. After a month of waking up ever 1.5-2 hours, and only getting about 5 hours of sleep - my body gave in!

I've heard that its important to nurse when you're sick so your LO doesn't catch it! Your body will automatically provide immunities in the breast milk.

Hope you feel better soon!'

i'm so sorry you are sick. It really sucks when you have a LO to take care of! I agree with everyone, keep breastfeeding.

Try and nap at the same time as your LO and drink lots of water!

Hope you feel better soon! I think breastfeeding is the best thing you can do, and really as much as it would suck for your LO to get sick, it's just life.

Thanks ladies! Unfortunately I'm stuck at home alone all day w baby today. This is not my idea of a relaxing sick day! I'm really hoping I can get DD down for a long nap so that I can rest and recover.

The worst, being a sick mommy and having to take care of a baby. Moms don't get sick days. :( Yes keep nursing, your antibodies will protect baby from the sickness. Wagon Jr. never caught a single cold until the week I weaned him!

I actually bought a face mask so I wouldn't pass it to my LO (overkill? probably). And yes, even though it's hard, make sure to continue breastfeeding. Oh and keep up your water intake if you can. Hope you feel better really soon!

Keep breastfeeding. Those antibodies are going to baby so you still get the short end of the stick, much like when you were pregnant. Check with LactMed (and your local pharmacist) if you need any medicine and keep yourself hydrated. I hope you feel better soon!

Yeah I've heard it's BEST to keep breastfeeding because your body is building up antibodies against whatever infection you have and you pass those to baby through your breastmilk.

Aww I'm sorry youre sick. You are right, the best thing you can do is to continue breastfeeding. I have had a stomach bug and managed not go get DD sick so it can be done. Like you said wash hands often! Also make sure to be washing bedding!

DH was sick earlier this week, and now I seem to have caught it. I had a 102.5 fever in the night, and now of course I'm terrified that my 7-week old daughter is going to catch this too. I'm still breastfeeding her (although she gets supplemented w/ formula), and I think I've heard that I should continue breastfeeding while I'm sick. Has anyone ever gotten sick while caring for an infant? Any great suggestions for not passing this on to my baby? I've been washing my hands a ton, but I'm still sure that she's been in contact with a ton of my germs!
